So what's the next version of DRM going to be? They really need to loosen up and realize the pirating will never end.
A person that is going to sit next to you when you play.
So this is how the video game industry falls. Dick move, EA. But whatever.
You guys are going on about Valve as if it hasn't done the exact same thing.
You can't play single player on Steam if you're not connected to the internet, their shitty-ass offline mode doesn't work.

You don't need constant connection though

Strange from me that shit offline mode does work... for years.
It's like the videogame crash all over again.

Exactly, offline mode is notorious for not ever working.
I don't know where these people get off.
Lol they take a shitty game and put shitty drm on it?
Overkill.
You don't need constant connection though
Whats the difference between needing a connection to start a game, and having a connection the whole time? Are you really going to disconnect while you're in game anyway?
It's funny because I won't ever purchase a single one of their games with this system and will actively tell my friends not to as well.
Practices like this can't be condoned.

What rock did you crawl out of? You don't need to be online to play SP games. It's not required as this shit will be.
And your game won't just cut off if you lose connection.
You watch, EA will give a load of shit away for free again.
And there goes EA's cool streak.
:saddowns:
This is getting ridiculous now. It just goes to show that 90% of dev teams are made up of people who were born lacking brains.
"Hey, I've got a great idea! Let's piss off our customers and build our game on a system that is proven to be flawed!"

EA never had a cool streak.

Poindexter, this isn't the Developers choice, it's the publishers.
Ubisoft Entertainment S.A. (Euronext: UBI) (pronounced /ˈjuːbisɒft/ YOU-bee-soft[3]) is a French computer and video game publisher and developer with headquarters in Montreuil-sous-Bois, France.

Electronic Arts, Inc. (EA) (NASDAQ: ERTS)[2] is an international developer, marketer, publisher and distributor of video games.
They are still developers and they are still choosing to implement it in any future games they make as well as publish.
My "90% of dev teams" comment was a bit brash, but it's still safe to say that this is a good indication that the games industry is going down the shitter.

That's only internal studios
I was thinking... this could be a real big problem for major LAN parties. Even with two fiber glass connections(Or something like that, can't remember.) to the web it wasn't able to support the 1750 users. And thunderstorms din't improve it to...
I hope they enjoy their lost sales.
Well, back to Activision we go... :sigh:
All they're doing is fighting fire with fire.
If ME 3 has this I will rage HARD :argh:

I'm still gonna buy it because EA has no acces to fuck up it's storyline.
I recall Ubisoft stating that when AC2 gets cracked, they'll consider releasing an update to allow offline play.
Unlikely, but that would make their system more on par with valve's. Which is a good thing.
Still, all this is much better than Starforce or other such bullshit prevention systems which do absolutely nothing to prevent piracy and annoy anyone with 2 dvd drives or daemon tools or whatever.

This is actually a valid tactic when fighting a fire in a forest.

You've never used dial up, have you? Damn kids.

Please enlighten me, how do you use fire to fight fire in a forest?
Please enlighten me, how do you use fire to fight fire in a forest?
Usually before the wind turns or when it's not much wind, firefighters burn away part of the grass to avoid the fire spreading that way when the wind turns/picks up, using a small torch.
There is the danger of it making the fire spread faster, but it usually works pretty well.
