I've been drinking roughly 1.5 liters of coke a day (one big bottle) for the last 3-4 years. I don't have any health problems and my teeth are fine. I had two different dentists during this period and neither of them noticed I drank a lot of softdrinks and when I asked them if it was visible they said it was incredible it didn't damage my teeth. My 2nd dentist, however, said that it has to do with some teeth being more resistant than others, but they don't usually tell this to kids because that makes them think they can do everything and not care about their teeth. Not forgetting to mention that I only brush my teeth twice a day and forget to brush my teeth at night occasionally because I fall asleep before I get the chance to, right after having a cup of tea with 3 sugarcubes.
You're going to get type II diabetes and wreak havoc on your kidneys if you don't stop. I don't think I need a Ph.D in medicine to figure this out.
Well either way, I was not able to stay awake and I wasn't able to wake up in the morning until I drank a can of coke at school. So it was pretty much impossible to stay off coke without falling asleep.
Try to wean yourself off of it over summer or something. You'll feel a lot better without having to depend on a beverage for your brain/body to work.
Every morning I chew up several pounds of dirt in the hopes of getting small pebbles in my stomach because I heard birds use that to help with digestion. To help it go down I drink a cup of coca-cola that I dissolved a penny in the night before. For good luck, you see. I then have chicken and corn on the cob, making sure bits of it get stuck between every tooth. This is to catch and preserve all the flavor from the five bags of potato chips that are my after dinner snack. I wash it down with a mix of molten caramel and marshmallow fluff and prepare a cup of cola with a penny in it for the next day. And my teeth are fine.
i drink 6 cans of coke a day and i'm fine. why does the government keep trying to control the way we live? i believe ayn rand was right when she said 'the truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it.'
Yeah, if only Ayn Rand wasn't a complete drithering moron who's inability to write could only be contested by how stupid her beliefs were.
Yeah, if only Ayn Rand wasn't a complete drithering moron who's inability to write could only be contested by how stupid her beliefs were.
Are you actually defending Ayn Rand, over a mere satirical comment? lmao
I used to drink lots of coke (1-2 bottles per day!). Then, (not sure why) one day, I couldn't drink of it anymore. It just started to.. have a really bad taste. I guess personal tastes can change. Teeth are ok; But I gained weight. wtf?
There definitely needs to be more education on how bad junk food like this really is. Sure, those who are young and active don't tend to get problems but there's no doubt soda is a large part of why obesity and diabetes is so common, especially in youth. To make matters worse they load it full of caffeine so it becomes incredibly addictive. It really should be illegal to sell to children.
Coke should just make a thick mango juice infused with Cola Mango juice is the shit and I just drown cola on it and it's like sex in a 500ml glass.
That's lucky, my teeth are pretty strong too and coke doesn't affect them much, but it generally makes me feel like crap if I drink more than one can. Pepsi even more so, for some reason. I can't understand people who drink huge amounts of it, it must slow you down so much [editline]5th September 2014[/editline] I don't think that's the point of it, it's just to have a better level of transparency in what you're eating (or in this case drinking). Nutritional information is a lot easier to access in this format.
My teeth are terrible. My dentist says it isn't the cokes. Bummer I was hoping it was something I could help. Oh well, fine by me, I don't have to give up my addiction! The only real issue with Coca Cola, and other soft drinks, is the sugar. Something like Spirte offers the same bite you get from carbonated drinks, but without the sugar if you get the diet Sprite which actually tastes the same, unlike other diet drinks
Are you actually defending Ayn Rand, over a mere satirical comment? lmao
No. She is an untalented hack who doesn't deserve the title of "author." I would consider Twilight or The Hunger Games of better writing quality than her poor excuse for writing.
No. She is an untalented hack who doesn't deserve the title of "author." I would consider Twilight or The Hunger Games of better writing quality than her poor excuse for writing.
The Hunger Games is a good book
you said you don't have any health issues. I'd call that a health issue.
That's cafeine addiction, I'm quite sure that a lot of people who drink a lot of coffee have the same problem.
That's cafeine addiction, I'm quite sure that a lot of people who drink a lot of coffee have the same problem.
I drink plenty of coffee and don't have that issue. Only use a bit of creamer really. Coffee is way better than that soda shit anyways. hell, there's even communities based around it too.
I drink plenty of coffee and don't have that issue. Only use a bit of creamer really. I just don't have them now.
The Hunger Games is a good book
Never said it wasn't good, I implied it was written poorly. Which it is. The author has this amazing inability to actually describe things, and instead simply tells you. There is a huge potential for imagery, it just isn't utilized. This may be due to the fact the book is written toward a younger audience, or at least for one with the reading comprehension of a younger audience. (I.E. common teenagers)
That's cafeine addiction, I'm quite sure that a lot of people who drink a lot of coffee have the same problem.
It's probably the sugar, soda doesn't have that much caffeine. Coffee has way more caffeine than Soda. 34mg per can of Coke (12 fl oz), 49mg per can of this off-brand soda I have on my desk, but 142mg for the same amount of coffee.

Of course it could be the sugars, but other than coke I barely consume any sugar. Candy did not make me feel more awake where as a can of coke did. I usually had a break at 10, after my first 2 classes, and if I drank one can of coke then I'd feel fine the rest of the day, but feel tired once I came home. If I just went to the shop and bought this kind of shit it'd just give me stomachache because of the amount of sugar.
basically just political ass covering, if people drink shitloads of coke and their teeth fall out they can't blame anyone but themselves
im glad that more and more companies are doing this in america when there is no law requiring this over here
I wish they wouldn't. It's stupid asinine bullshit. People know that soda isn't exactly health food of the year material, they don't need to be told as much. Nobody's sitting here going "Oh calm down Coke's really healthy!". If it tastes good, and coke tastes great, people are going to drink it.

Its no surprise anymore how on FP there is always a sudden "Ergh soda/cola/softdrinks are so fucking gross it should be banned because its like drinking gasoline". Literally everyone i know from my family and friends drink cola with the exception of one American far-far cousin.
The phosphoric acid fucks with your stomach.
However for American standards the amount of sugar I consume is far below the average I have been told.
If you don't stop, before you know it you'll lose 30 pounds in 3 weeks and start waking up with your arm completely numb.
I don't know a thing about medical conditions, could you explain the joke behind this?
However for American standards the amount of sugar I consume is far below the average I have been told.
The sugar is the least of your concerns. :downs:
How is red/green/amber any easier than percentages of RDA? What does red mean? How many red things can I have in a day?
soda is fucking gross. i don't understand how you guys can drink so much of it
I only drink soft drink on the weekends and sometimes during the weekday if I have money or buying lunch [editline]6th September 2014[/editline] most times tho i just drink water
You're going to get type II diabetes and wreak havoc on your kidneys if you don't stop. I don't think I need a Ph.D in medicine to figure this out.
First of all you get an M.D. not a Ph.D. Secondly eating sugar does not give you diabetes. If he is otherwise healthy then there's no way for you to know his risk for diabetes.
I don't know a thing about medical conditions, could you explain the joke behind this?
type 2 diabetes causes weight loss / poor circulation as a symptom though I guess heart issues would be a greater issue, I'm not exactly a doctor. But health issues are no doubt a concern generally with too much anything.
