ah, just looked into that and there's a few variations of the story it seems, but it's interesting to know. The physical factor is because many streets in the center of town run east-west, so you get a canyon style channeling of air that pushes it through a lot harder than what is recorded at the airport. It isn't really rated all that high on the list of 'windiest cities' but that's due to overall average winds officiated by the airports. the "lake effect" is often blamed for most of our weather but that's more attributed to freak rain/snowstorm patterns

it was pretty nice out all weekend, though looking at the weather it seems temps reached just under 60 degrees in the city. Likely a bit more chilly feeling since he's out on the water
