Christ, this made me feel extremely sad especially when it said he was hiding and waiting for his mother and those pictures Man, I'm really depressed now for some reason
What an ugly as fuck creature.
It looks a hell of a lot better than your computer.

I thought it meant navy seals and was like The fuck.
He's so cute... Due to his red fur, especially because of the fact that his is caused by an accumulation of iron, he needs to be called "Rusty".
Rusty100 will probably approve of this message.
It looks a hell of a lot better than your computer.
It is true, my computer is broken at the moment.

The look on its face is so sad :( [editline]16th September 2011[/editline]
He's so cute... What waste of time and money. They should have just let it die like nature intended.
What waste of time and money. They should have just let it die like nature intended.
You have no soul.
You have no soul.
Nature isn't about having a soul, it's about doing the right thing and not interfering. The pup was shunned from the colony because of genetic defects, nature's way of weeding out the weak. I suppose if they don't allow it to breed, it's alright for them to care for it, but they shouldn't even think about releasing it back into the wild. They shouldn't have touched it at all, but now they have an obligation to avoid releasing it.
[release]Luckily, Mr Strakhov was with staff from a dolphinarium who took it into their care.[/release] rated book
Thank goodness for them.
I totally misread the title as "It's tough being a ginger even in the Navy Seals" :v:

I could bring up the fact that humans do an incredible amount of "unnatural" things, but I'll keep it simple. if it were a pet dog with a life threatening defect (assuming you like animals, and if you don't, pretend you do) you'd want to keep it from dying wouldn't you? nature didn't "intend" for us to keep animals as pets or care for them, but we do, so what makes the seal different?

I thought it was about a Ginger in the Navy SEALs
I don't see any harm in keeping it, its as blind as a bat so its not like it'll find any tail.
If I looked under a shed and saw that thing in the same way as the second picture I'd probably shit myself.

Pet's are domestic. The seal is wild.
What an ugly as fuck creature.
It's pretty damn ugly yeah.

Pet's are domestic. The seal is wild.
my point sailed clear over both of your heads guardian-angel was arguing about what "nature intended" - for this seal to die. my point is that humans have been doing things against the grain that "nature intended" for a long, long time (although it's an incredibly ignorant to claim what nature intends, since nature is what developed humans' intelligence giving us the ability to reason and analyze and domesticate wild animals and care one way or the other about this seal - and, crucially, to save defective members of our own population from death.) for example, I have epilepsy and poor vision. without treatment (say we never had the neolithic revolution) I would almost certainly die. same can be said for a huge number of people around the world with common ailments that we don't even think about. you can't argue against saving a "defective" seal because nature didn't "intend" for it to survive if you're not also willing to argue against curing human ailments. the same intellect that lead to the technology and knowhow that cures human ailments gives us the compassion to care about the seal and not want it to die. tl;dr guardian-angel if this is unnatural to you then you should go live naked in the woods with no tools and go from there.
tl;dr guardian-angel if this is unnatural to you then you should go live naked in the woods with no tools and go from there.
Exactly. Nature doesn't "intend" to do anything. We're just another way of keeping organic matter alive and replicating. That just so happens to mean we're smart. We're the human fucking race, we do what we want, and in this case, people want to save a cute seal. It's not going to doom an ecosystem, it's not going to cause the extinction of all life on Earth, just let it be. Keep the pup alive, give it a home in a zoo, let some little kids fawn over it.
It's so cute and unattractive at the same time. :3
Excuse me but what the fuck are you going on about, a seal and a human who're the most advanced species on this earth are two very different things. A seal is a semiaquatic mammal in the wild, and your analogy telling us to go live in the woods with no technology if we detest a seal that's originally supposed to die due to inferior genes by it's own family is fucking horrid. A seal and a human are two different beings, one wild and one civilized, one a quadraped and one bipedla, one who has a lower intelligence and the other who's intelligence has catapulted him onto a moon orbiting us. To detest something living in the wild for living because of inferior genes that it most likely wouldn't survive anyways due to poor eyesight and a load of other problems, i'm okay with it living if it doesn't reproduce. But to look to human beings I wouldn't be a fucking luddite and go against technology that benefits humanity as a whole, why the fuck would I do that? humans and seals are two different things. tl;dr You're analogy is stupid, if an animal is a loner due to it's unusual condition it's probably because it isn't going to survive in the wild and comparing that to being a luddite to human technology is dumb as fuck.

Nature doesn't have a will of its own. Life began, and things have happened. We happen (as far as we know) to be the most intelligent species ever evolved. Nothing that has happened is "unnatural" because it's only logical that we'd use these big brains of ours to make things easier for ourselves. Now, what does this have to do with the seal? Well, saying "this seal was supposed to die" or "it's unnatural to interfere" etc etc. makes zero sense since by that logic everything humans do or ever have done is "unnatural". You might as well go live naked in the woods and use nothing but your fists to survive. UNLESS what you're saying is that the money that's being spent saving this seal's life could be spent on something more relevant to humanity, in which case you're terrible for calling my analogy horrid. The same brain that makes us so smart and gives us the ability to (in most of our minds) clearly distinguish ourselves from animals also gives us the compassion to want to save them if our non-intervention means their death. All that said Keyblockor, you're basically an asshole. It's a seal pup.
Aww, poor guy. I want him, he's adorable.
