Around most major cities in the UK, our highway units which tend to be pretty high end sports cars/sedans that will easily do 140~ mph are used for this.
There's a fairly famous run that was done on 8th May 1987 where there was a urgent Liver run done into London using a Rover SD1 because the helicopter that was dropping it off could not land at the hospital.
