That wikipedia even says "In 2011, Arnold donated over $100 million to different causes[26][27] including the Laura and John Arnold Foundation which they founded. In 2012 they gave away or pledged $423 million" which is a good thing. How does being an hedge fund manager make him one of those that made these people "low-income parents"? It's a job like any other, and it's very very risky, most hedge fund managers are remunerated much less and many don't even make money at all. I'm not saying the system is 100% right either, but it's a very competitive industry with a lot of risk, and it seems you're implying this action has less value because how he made the money.
1. It's Enron. High energy costs are one of the main burdens of low-income households. 2. Do you really not see how crooked the morale behind this is? You make billions of dollars from a shoddy buisiness (and don't tell me the energy industry, especially gas, isn't crooked down to the very bones) and then suddenly you get public absolution because you donated half of it?
damn they're hot

You're looking at the wrong persons to blame in my opinion, there are many people that influence and are involved on what you are saying, but the job of hedge fund managers is to make the right decisions about investments and mostly that. The reason a few get so rich is because they sometimes handle big amounts of money and they get a small percentage of that. My point being that blaming hedge fund managers for those type of problems is a bit unfair, especially considering how few get to become so rich and how many struggle to earn a decent living.
He looks pretty smug edit: I didn't mean it in a negative way jeez
If I looked like him and had a wife like her, I'd be smug too.

I don't blame the good ones. He's not one. 8 million bonus shortly before his company went bancrupt. 22k employees. A lot of them paid in shares. I don't blame him alone but he's part of the leech-mob. And now he's all "sorry guys, but hey look I'll give you back HALF of it, 'aight?
Is it just me or do they look like plastic dolls?
the majority of their net worth is invested so that the actual amount of money they see is constantly growing, 10 mil isn't an inconsequential amount of money even to a billionarie
the majority of their net worth is invested so that the actual amount of money they see is constantly growing, 10 mil isn't an inconsequential amount of money even to a billionarie
Only problem is that the subjective worth of a dollar falls SIGNIFICANTLY the more money you possess.
Normal people shouldn't donate to charity, they should just go out into their own community and fix what needs fixing. National/international charities are laziness manifested into morality. Let the heavy hitters worry about world problems, you just help your corner. Also good on them for keeping it going, I don't know them personally but I don't think anyone would say this is a bad thing.
you guys know he got an 8 million bonus from enron.... with interest, thatd be about 10 million by now.... [editline]14th October 2013[/editline] still great that he's trying to help when everyone on capital hill has their head up their asses
If i was a billionaire, i would only keep like 10mil (probably not even that) for myself and retire asap. Then donate the rest to charity/appeals for sick children and "good family's" who are struggling and not benefiting from government payouts i.e people who aren't blatantly abusing the funding of government to people in need. If you are too lazy to get a job, then you should be homeless, unless you have an illness (other then being fat or a drug addict).
I don't think you understand the large shit pile we have in America called welfare. It literally discourages you from getting a job.
I don't think you understand the large shit pile we have in America called welfare. It literally discourages you from getting a job.
That's funny, I've heard of several cases where people rightfully needing welfare can't get it due to a technicality. If anything it's downright broken, due to being implemented DECADES ago and not annually kept up-to-date.
If you believe that you would donate all of your money should you become a billionaire then you lack either an imagination, a sense of future, or both. [editline]14th October 2013[/editline] That said there are very few rich people in the world that I see doing legitimately cool things with their money (for themselves even). They just sit with it invested away for ages never doing anything with it.
Some people won't be satisfied until the rich are below the poverty line.
Or it just seems like the dickhead rich people get more news coverage than the ones with an actual heart. Awesome people, I'd love to shake their hands given the chance.

Perhaps he's using donations to build himself a reputation after the all of the shit he's caused but if it leads to donations its a good thing.
I read the OP as initiatives for porn... I felt really weird looking at the picture of the couple smile at me...
You know whats better than 10 million? 1 billion.
