Female study-abroad student goes to India, comes home with PTSD due to sexual harassment experienced

Well the thing about India is that many men there do not even learn manners at all. It's really disgusting because many people there are pretty not intelligent( especially in the less developed areas)
There way of approaching females is really disgusting, and no wonder why they wouldn't get anything even in other countries.

That would be the south of India where women have considerably better treatment, but that is largely due to many of the clans (including the one I belong to) being matriarchal in nature.

This behavior stems from a lack of education for the most part. Combined with facts that even today, a large portion of families in India consist of the male figures calling all of the shots and the women being largely submissive, there is a perception that women who seek to become equals with men are also sluts. This is what's happening to Indian women right now and they find it repulsive.

When it comes to foreign women, the biggest problem that happens when they come to India, especially some parts of northern India is that due to Bollywood and its glorification both fairer skins and stereotypes of western women being sex fiends (the fact that Eastern European women are highly sought after as prostitutes doesn't help either), there is a very stupid perception that if you chase a white woman long enough, she'll do you like a bonobo and then you would have some kind of trphy level achievement in some sick and disgusting way. Most parents don't really object if an Indian guy chooses to marry a foreign woman (hell, the dad might actually give his son a high five), but all hell usually breaks loose if the genders were reversed.

So as an added word of warning for any of you that do know of someone who are dating an Indian guy (by which I mean a guy from India, and not of Indian descent) you need to be extra careful that the guy isn't using you for fun and games before his parents eventually hook him up to some Indian girl and leave you devastated. Usually you'll know this if he hasn't told his parents about you at all. I'm saying this as an Indian because I had to deal with the fallout of some very nice women who had this done to them by some of my fucking asshole countrymen and I'd like to put a stop to it every chance I get.
