Adblock kills new websites. You should honestly be ashamed if you think you have the right to get content for nothing. I know some ads are just plain annoying as hell, and I agree something should be done about those ones, but denying people income whilst still using their bandwidth for websites you use every day is just unfair.
but muh freedoms!!
They should make AdCock, penises everywhere!

At the end of the day they're a major security risk and obnoxious to look at.

Is this actually what you are saying? How do you even function?!
Are you saying Youtube isn't a service or writing articles for a living is not a job? Are you serious? Is this actually what you are saying? I wouldn't block ads if they didnt take up half a page or be animated with sound. I dont want a lot of stuff moving and making noise when i want to read something.
Adblock Plus has a paid whitelist where advertisers can come and pay to not be blocked. Google is one of them. Then again I don't use any sort of adblock, I just have flash and java not set to run unless I explicitly tell them to.
Then how are these people supposed to pay for their food and their rent?
Provide alternatives like adding a donate button or selling merchandise.
I could make a userscript that does the same thing for free.

Sensationalist headlines.
Don't expect to get rich from that or even close to covering the bills most of the time.
And I, as the user, certainly don't want to donate to every service I use or buy some weird ass t-shirts I would never, ever wear in public.
I remain in the "I'm not doing it because plenty of other people are so what difference do I make" mindset It'd be pretty interesting to see websites adopt alternate forms of getting money from their content, though. I mean, I'd gladly pay a dollar a month each for more than a few channels on youtube, provided youtube itself wasn't absolute crap, and that'd be hundreds of times more money than those channels get from my views, likes and comments. (looking around, Youtube themselves get $20 or so per thousand ad views.)
One thing I personally found pretty weird is, that when I installed google Chrome on my new laptop the first thing it did by itself was install adblock. I don't know it it was because I logged into google, and I use adblock on this pc, or adblock is defaulted for Chrome now but it doesn't make sense to me.
I don't know about anyone else, but when I search for Adblock I only find Adblock Plus. Are they two different extensions?
I'm 90% sure that this is just the "allow non obtrusive advertising option". Sensationalist headlines.
Most likely, I believe Adblock Plus has this enabled by default. Adblock Edge does not offer the feature since it's intended function is to never allow any ads. As to the first point, I may be wrong. Google will automatically install your chosen extensions when you log in onto any other computer. You can opt out of this if you wish through the Settings.
I don't know about anyone else, but when I search for Adblock I only find Adblock Plus. Are they two different extensions?
Yes, though their intended functionality is the same. The main difference is that they are separate development groups because Adblock for a long time was available only for Firefox so another group came along and developed their own.
does adblock block adblock ads?
Most likely, and maybe even especially. You don't need to advertise to somebody with your product already
I don't know about anyone else, but when I search for Adblock I only find Adblock Plus. Are they two different extensions?
Yes Adblock Plus started as a firefox-only addon, then someone made Adblock (which is only for chrome) and then the devs of ABP ported it to Chrome.
Since an Adblock-related thread has finally come about, does anyone else's Adblock Plus not block Youtube ads anymore?
I experienced this the other day so I re-ran the updater and that seems to have solved the problem. I can't tell for sure since it only happens very rarely.
better solution, block ad from everywhere www.abelhadigital.com/hostsman
There are some websites that I just don't feel bad for putting ABP on. Blip is one of them, and now they've gone and put up a "LOL UP YOURS, 90 SECONDS BEFORE YOU CAN WATCH ANYTHING" if you have it on. Okay, I get that you guys want to use it to get money, but Jesus Christ, I'm not putting up with a 30 second unskippable ad before your video, in-video ads at the bottom, and a fucking unskippable commercial break in your 15 minute video that pretty much shows me an entire movie/comic/video game.
I don't click any ads ever, thus website owners are not losing any money from me personally blocking their ads. That's how I see it.
I don't click any ads ever, thus website owners are not losing any money from me personally blocking their ads. That's how I see it.
Don't they get money for the simple exposure of ads? They just get even more if you click them.
I don't click any ads ever, thus website owners are not losing any money from me personally blocking their ads. So yes, they're losing money from you personally
