The only thing you could be talking about is an iMac in which case, yes.
You still return the whole unit even if your Mac Pro decides to crap out.
$5,000 to buy a plane that has thousands of buttons that is semi-complicated to use or a $10,000 plane that has one button and is very easy to use. A pretty bad analogy but providing you had $10,000 I think you'd chose the simpler alternative over the more complicated one.
[editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
How? People buy more expensive things even though there is a cheaper alternative simply because it looks nice and performs much more sleek.
Did you just say something with worse hardware will perform better?
Excuse me what.
Don't go ahead and think macs will perform better simply because they're macs. When you could get something better, for cheaper.
If mac is selling anything expensive, It's the whole "mac" image.
People seem to think macs will always run so much better, when they have destroyed their windows computer with so much bloatware that it doesn't even matter anymore, the same can be done to a mac.
You still return the whole unit even if your Mac Pro decides to crap out.
No you don't you can buy components off of eBay and easily replace them and you can even go into a certified Mac dealer and bring in the broken component and they'll give you a replacement right there and then.

An operating system tailored to specific hardware is going to be optimized and perform better than that of something designed to run on a vast variety of hardware.
why?
mercedes and apple both offer 'premium' products
and people keep saying that apple computers can do exactly the same thing as windows computers
and afaik mercedes cars do pretty much the same thing as all other car brands?
I don't really follow what you're trying to say.

And by "premium" you must mean has a shiny case, but doesn't have the range of software that Windows does. And by using Bootcamp to get into windows, you lose your crap hardware but optimised OS argument.

Actually I'd say apple is more prepared with things you might "need" when you buy it, certain software that a windows user probably would never get when buying a computer.
But yeah, windows has a wider selection of software to choose from past that point.

I've never found a piece of software that doesn't have a mac equivalent better or worse.

Any DirectX game :v:
Any DirectX game :v:
That's not really an issue if you don't play many games besides the occasional Valve game.
If you buy a Mac to game on, you're an idiot.
I can understand a lot of people here don't like apple products but you can't say they're bad.

Yes you can.
When Steve Jobs dies in a while their stocks will crash faster then the public image of the catholic church.

You can compared to the competition.
I'd never use a Mac, they are terrible.

but.. but you are using one!
but.. but you are using one!
And...your name is mac.
As soon as Apple becomes the worlds most valuable company their prices will drop.
I can honestly say that out of every piece of hardware I've had experience with, I'd rather be using something else. Okay, I'll admit I loved the iPod Classic 120gb I had because I listen to Flac files and I have a 70gb music collection because of it. There wasn't really anything with that much storage space out there so I can't say anything bad about it but when the iPod Touch came out, it was cool for apps and all that stuff but I'd rather use my iRiver PMP due to the interface. When the iPhone came out, it was said to be "simple" and "convenient" but if I had a choice between my HTC Touch Pro 2 or an iPhone, I'd pick the Treo and that is saying a lot because Windows Mobile was god awful. The G1 didn't come out until around the 2nd generation iPhone and if I had to choose between a G1 or an iPhone 2G, I'd easily pick the G1 and that isn't the Android fanboy in me, I like being able to access the storage through a file browser rather than relying on a piece of software which I often found more confusing and unresponsive overall compared to any Linux/Windows file browser in existence. Also iOS really lagged behind on features and if you fast forward to today, iOS is adding in features that Android had back in 2005 when they first showed it off.
When the iPad came out, it was nice because I always believed tablets would be a big hit but again, for something that boasts simplicity and user friendliness, it was the exact opposite while my Android phones and tablets were much more simplistic.
Macintosh computers, everyone claims they're good for media. That is what I hear everytime I post something like this. How exactly is it better for media? It's just as easy to use as Windows is and has the same software(we have Adobe, we have Sony Vegas, we have FLStudios, we have Maya/3DS Max) plus more and it seems to cost a shitton more. Again, for something that claims simplicity, it is easier to use than an iOS product thank god but there's no reason to get a Mac unless you're wanting to be "different" and if you want to be different, use any popular Linux distro, looks the same pretty much anyways.
Also AppleTV sucks, get a GoogleTV.

You typed all of that on an Android device, tell me you have a physical keyboard.
Droid 3 thank Christ I hate onscreen keyboards. I was testing if I could really write that much on a mobile phone. I've done it before on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and iPad 2 but it took twice as long obviously.
Apple won't make it to the top, their income will saturate and then slowly drop soon.
every android device sucks go apple
every android device sucks go apple
Yeah well my iPad 2 has been sitting on my shelf collecting dust ever since I did my review, hated using that thing while my Xoom/Galaxy Tab 10.1 have received the well-deserved attention. Also the frontfacing camera is shit and the iPad 2 was a massive disappointment overall.
Apple won't make it to the top, their income will saturate and then slowly drop soon.
Meaning as soon as Steve Jobs dies. Remember when his cancer was announced and it dropped dramatically? Imagine what'll happen when he resigns or dies. Apple is fucked.
But it has the Gee Bees and Angwee Bewrds!
So does everyone else who pushes out smartphones...
Also I forgot, according to my hands-on time with OS X Lion, it sucks according to the hype it has received, Mac users act like it's the second coming of Jesus Christ as usual and it ends up having minor changes from the one before it. I want a personal computer, not the lovechild of iOS and OS X. It just feels clunky and weird. I know what they're trying to do by making new adopters "feel at home" but it just feels like they're dumbing down the operating system even further.

Not really much difference besides a slightly tweaked UI and a few new apps. What I really liked though is built in full disk AES-256 encryption.
Ya, they're trying to make it more like the iPad/iPhone, according to some sources.
yeah, and? I don't see how this would surprise anyone. they produce the most two of the 10 most popular laptop computers, one of the top 10 most popular all-in-one computers, the most popular tablet PC, the most popular smartphone, the most popular SFF desktop, the most popular workstation computer, and they all cost twice as much as the competitors.
the surprising thing isn't that they're almost the most valuable company, but that they've stayed in business long enough to get so close to this point
Not really much difference besides a slightly tweaked UI and a few new apps. What I really liked though is built in full disk AES-256 encryption.
I thought OS X had the encryption feature already? I'll admit that is something Microsoft needs to work on but I just feel it's a disappointment after so much hype. It should've been a free update honestly.

Arguably that is a good thing but it just feels like what should be a free update, comparable to the jump from Windows 98 to Windows 2000

I'm not even going to continue listing differences, a new kernel is enough to warrant a selling as a new operating system
