I doubt you'd get noticeable burns from a high explosive device, the concussion would've popped everyone's lungs though.

Actually this has been tested and the shock apparently doesn't rip your lungs out, because the blast disperses too fast for it to create enought high pressure to kill you. Even indoors.

Yeah, it was considered a miracle that the guy survived. He had to have assistance for the rest of his life.
You'd be surprised by what the human body can withstand.

True. It has been a while since I read the story; it's more likely that it was a dud and they took it out. All I'm sure of is that there was a skull and a grenade and more penetration than a whore at a dockside tavern during shore leave.

Not entirely related, but they don't work well if the impact surface is soft; on this one training exercise in winter every single one that missed the target fell in the snow and didn't detonate. I pity the poor bastard who had to go around looking for both those and similarly failed LAW rockets :v:
