No, and I'm not arguing that. And no they aren't. Pirates are just about every type and variation of person. You're a stereotyping douche if that's what you truly believe. And it's not nearly as easy as you think it is, and it's not nearly as cut and dry as you think it is. But hey, you clearly know something about piracy and everything surrounding it that I don't.
I clearly know piracy is stealing, and stealing is clearly illegal.
I clearly know piracy is stealing, and stealing is clearly illegal.
You're pointless to argue with. Here's what you don't fucking get, piracy won't be stopped by a law that "blacklists" these sites. Piracy won't be stopped by those legislations. Tracking down pirates? Are you like... fucking 12(From what I remember of you when you used to post, you might as well be) or something? Most pirates are on dynamic ISPs, most pirates use peer tracking blockers. Most pirates aren't fucking idiots that are scar faced by acne. Being a pirate is the easiest thing in the world, not being tracked is one step harder. To think that it's so easy to bust pirates makes me laugh at your fucking naivety.

If the US government forced every ISP in the country to blacklist ThePirateBay, that'd stop a good chunk of the piraters. Then just do the same with every other pirating website. [editline]17th January 2011[/editline]
Most pirates aren't fucking idiots that are scar faced by acne.
I never called them idiots, I called them basement-dwelling, acne-scarred couch potatoes.
Hey, so go back to the cave you crawled out of and grow a brain.
Care to elaborate your flaming, my good sir?
Do oyu not get it? That's so fucking wrong, that's so fucking... Hell, it WON'T even work to do that. That won't stop piracy. [editline]16th January 2011[/editline]
Care to elaborate your flaming, my good sir?
It's disgustingly barbaric. It's ridiculous. Not only that, it won't even fucking work. None of this will work. They'll simply find another way to steal.
Do oyu not get it? That's so fucking wrong, that's so fucking... Hell, it WON'T even work to do that. That won't stop piracy.
Why is it so "fucking wrong", my sailor-mouthed friend? And if a pirate can't access his typical source websites, his pitiful occupation just got much more difficult.
Why is it so "fucking wrong", my sailor-mouthed friend? And if a pirate can't access his typical source websites, his pitiful occupation just got much more difficult.
You're so full of shit... How do you not see it as wrong to force every country to do something because you are against piracy. Piracy isn't a profession. Piracy isn't hard to do. If you black list these sites. Piracy will still exist. And yet, you'll have only hurt legitimate users of those sites.
Seems every other week "the internet is no longer free" Makes the news when it actually happens.
I never said force every country, bud. :downs:
Then my bad reading. But you're still forcing a choice on people. Free country my fucking ass.
Proxies would defeat it rather easily.
Then my bad reading. But you're still forcing a choice on people. Free country my fucking ass.
Freedom does not mean freedom to steal. Do you think people should also have freedom to kill, rape, assault? Freedom does not mean nor should it mean absolute freedom.
Why is it so "fucking wrong", my sailor-mouthed friend? And if a pirate can't access his typical source websites, his pitiful occupation just got much more difficult.
Is this meant to be ironic or just really dense? "Rabble rabble punish criminals rabble rabble piracy is for bad people etc etc" Newflash, you can't steal property that has no physical form. "Data theft" isn't even theft, a copy is simply being made. The anti-piracy crowd needs a better basis for their beliefs if they are going to be wreaking havok on the internet trying to bring "criminals" to justice.
Freedom does not mean freedom to steal. Do you think people should also have freedom to kill, rape, assault? Freedom does not mean nor should it mean absolute freedom.
you really only can argue through absurdity. No surprise there. Nope, i don't think that at all. But piracy. IS. DIFFERENT. You want to compare piracy to those? Fine, but then you have to realize how fucking different they are.

Pirating means you pay no money for it, the people who made said content deserve money, by pirating you're both being an asshole AND stealing. No you don't have two options, not even for simplicities sake.
NO YOU DON'T. Holy shit i'm stunned, you clearly don't even read. No you don't have two options, not even for simplicities sake.
I love how every counter-argument of yours is a rageful exclamation of my supposed 'stupidity', and you provide no facts other than saying 'how stupid I am'. Elementary, isn't it, my friend?
Not only that, it would technically have to pass committee again in order to even make it to the floor, which it won't do under a republican house. This thread is moot.
Thank you, your comment gave me a boner.
I love how every counter-argument of yours is a rageful exclamation of my supposed 'stupidity', and you provide no facts other than, basically, 'I LIKE FUCKING PIRATING STUFF SO I DUN WANT THIS LAW OMGWTFQQ'. Elementary, isn't it, my friend?
Hey, there you go! Call your opponent what you hate. I don't pirate so good job making that assumption. Lets break down how you argue. You say something. Then you say it again. Then you say it again. Then you ignore any points that exist, and say your own shit again. You're like glaber on crack. Here's why you're wrong, you haven't read anything i've said so far. People who don't plan on buying something, then pirate it, aren't stealing. They aren't costing potential profit. Nothing like that. You gave two options to a problem that has far more than you realize.

It doesn't matter if they didn't plan on buying it, they're getting something that normally costs money for free in an illegitimate way. That's stealing, my friend.
I love how every counter-argument of yours is a rageful exclamation of my supposed 'stupidity', and you provide no facts other than saying 'how stupid I am'. Elementary, isn't it, my friend?
Just a FYI, people are not laughing WITH you, they're laughing AT you.
Just a FYI, people are not laughing WITH you, they're laughing AT you.
If a stand against thievery gets me laughed at on FP, I don't care. Hell, if I get laughed at on the internet, I don't care. It's the internet.
If a stand against thievery gets me laughed at on FP, I don't care. Hell, if I get laughed at on the internet, I don't care. It's the internet.
Yeah, this is how those drug legalization discussions went too. You basically just asserted your point and said you were in moral high ground until the cows came home.
Yeah, this is how those drug legalization discussions went too. You basically just asserted your point and said you were in moral high ground until the cows came home.
I don't see how I couldn't be on higher moral ground here. You're advocating for internet piracy, a form of stealing, a crime. I'm advocating for its blacklisting, its removal, justice.
As a musician myself, and as someone who understands the film industry/works in it Piracy is not killing anything Again, I repeat Piracy is not killing anything Musicians make shit all money from record sales either way. Movies make the vast, vast majority of their money in theatres, and if piracy is killing the film industry, I'd like to know why it's making more money now, than ever before, and bitching MORE about piracy than ever before. As a musician myself, I'd LOVE it if people torrented my music. Hey, it's FREE publicity, it creates a fanbase world wide, far wider than I can ever convince some self interested record company to push my shit, hell, it gives me the potential for new tour locations, that's how musicians make money. Touring. [editline]16th January 2011[/editline] Not really. That assumes someone planned on buying in the first place. the argument of "potential profit loss" is empty and null. [editline]16th January 2011[/editline] You. Can't. Steal. It's duplication, it's not stealing. It's stealing if they planned to buy it and instead did not. It's not stealing if there's no intent to buy. Considering the facts that literally NO industry is dying from piracy right now(Music industry is dying of it's own idiocy), the argument about how bad piracy is and how much damage it's done, is starting to get ridiculous.
Piracy is hurting me and some people though
If a stand against thievery gets me laughed at on FP, I don't care. Hell, if I get laughed at on the internet, I don't care. It's the internet.
It's not thievery. Torrented games don't even give you the ability to play Multiplayer, which is usually 80% of a lot of popular games. And if you're so damn anxious about tracking down a bunch of high school teenagers and other productive citizens and throwing them into prison and/or pulling off their monies with extortionate fines for torrenting Simcity or downloading a Michael Jackson song then you're just beyond hope of realizing that enforcing piracy laws on the internet is stupid to begin with.
I don't see how I couldn't be on higher moral ground here. You're advocating for internet piracy, a form of stealing, a crime. I'm advocating for its blacklisting, its removal, justice.
Yep, the same view of moral absolutism. Great. Here's how you're not. Piracy. Isn't. Stealing. I'm done. You won't say anything new, you're just going to continue this with the same few words over and over again.
I don't see how I couldn't be on higher moral ground here. You're advocating for internet piracy, a form of stealing, a crime. I'm advocating for its blacklisting, its removal, justice.
You realize, once (someone or group) acquires a power, they aren't going to stop at Piracy? I'm sure there's a bit more than file-sharing sites they would like to ban.
It's not thievery. Torrented games don't even give you the ability to play Multiplayer, which is usually 80% of a lot of popular games. The one thing that makes piracy so unimaginable stupid? You can just pay for the damn thing in the first place.
