Reminds me of that one Facepunch thread...Pizza Hut 'refused to serve black players' Now that we are back on topic, I can sorta see how they could have been skeptical of the players, generally when you get a group of people all dressed similarly, you get the impression that they perhaps may be up to no good. Kind of how we see gang members, but I can't thoroughly relate that here because I'm not very well informed about gangs in the UK, so I am not sure if its a problem there.
They said they were "sharply dressed" ie wearing expensive clothes. It's unlikely they were dressed in matching outfits unless they were wearing suits, which wouldn't be conspicuous anyway.
I live right next to Bournemouth I can't think of a suitable joke or pun or comment either :suicide:
Wait, what kind of a place doesn't take money first from everyone? Really?
Wait, what kind of a place doesn't take money first from everyone? Really?
Most restaurants. Haven't you been to one? You see, first you sit at a table and tell the waiter what you want. Then they bring you the food, you eat it. After that, you pay for the food. Pizza hut works like that. Do you understand now?
Wait, what kind of a place doesn't take money first from everyone? Really?
Most restaurants in the US are like this. Fast food takes your money first, but any restaurant that has waiters/waitresses will have you pay when you're done eating.
I hate racists, and I hate people who see themselves as victims of percieved racism. I don't have enough information on this incident to form an opinion. The article, as stated before, is poorly written.
I was surprised to see that this was in the UK. Aren't the British supposed to be more afraid of white teenagers in hoodies right now? Try to keep up with socially acceptable prejudices, Pizza Hut.
They should've paid first, ate some of the food, said it tasted like shit/there was a hair in it, and then gotten a full refund. Turning a bad situation into a good one. Racist pigs.
They said they were "sharply dressed" ie wearing expensive clothes. It's unlikely they were dressed in matching outfits unless they were wearing suits, which wouldn't be conspicuous anyway.
Well then shit I have no idea what the fuck they were thinking.
Well, that's what they get for going to Pizza Hut
Oh so you're suggesting they go to KFC or something instead You're a racist TH89 and I demand you stop your racism
"Sirs, there is a Kentucky Fried Chicken about two blocks away. I'm sure they'll serve your kind." [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] Dun ban me TH89
I've many times done something completely random and then moments later i realised the person i did to or someone around could consider that offensive and then would make a huge poker face expecting them not to notice or to simply don't pay attention. I'm not saying they didn't do it on purpose but, imagine how funny would it be if it actually wasn't on purpose.
It's not novel quality writing, but it's really not that hard to follow guys. It sounds like one guy who was racist enough to be suspicious. Racism now seems more along those lines, of being irrationally fearful and disdainful, compared to the violent hate it was 50 years ago.
How do you get pizza before paying for it? It takes about 15 minutes to make and cook one for you. So then what? You walk in, "We'll have a large pepperoni." then they say "Right" and start making it, without being paid? What if you leave and don't come back? They've lost money. You have to wait for it anyways, they might as well collect payment meanwhile.

If you leave, someone will order the same thing minutes later.
Oh this the UK Much more believable now

I'm surprised by how many people don't get that it is typical to pay after your meal.
They do this pay before you eat thing in Asian Pizza Huts, they are actual restaurants, I prefer it in Asia too you can get cheap steak and a few pizzas and few smoothies for $20 USD maybe. Then again the waitress yelled at me and my brother because she thought we were up to no good.
why does none of facepunch know how proper restaurants work?

I've never heard of the management or a server tell someone "I think you might run out on the bill, pay now please" especially not a big party this is a huge chain mind you, a little ma and pa pizza place might take extra steps to ensure they won't lose money because they can't afford it as much as a pizza hut franchise can
Next time a black guy orders a pizza from that Pizza Hut, they'll send the delivery boy empty handed and demanding payment, or else they won't even make the pizza.
A spokesman for Pizza Hut said: "We do not tolerate any form of discrimination, so immediately investigated this incident. While our duty managers actions were absolutely not racially motivated, we are very sorry for the way this was handled.
Yeah, sure.
When I worked in Target, it's hilarious how blunt they were about this stuff. Working electronics, people stole video games a lot. The moment any african american guy walked in with bad clothing, I would get a call to watch him. I'm not kidding. But it's true, because these were the kids that statistically stole the most. However, I think it was less the color of their skin, and more their clothes, because plenty of blacks would come in dressed normally and no one cares at all. Still interesting, and since in this case they wore nice clothes, it's a stupid mistake on Pizza Hut's end. Assholes.
What do you consider a "gangsta or potential thief"? You mean a stereotypical black man and you damn well know it
Uh, no. A stereotpyical gangsta is the dumbass who walks in with his jeans lower than his ass, a hoodie (usually with graffiti style art on it) and an expression like he's going to beat your ass. Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians etc. ALL do this look, and yeah, shockingly enough I'm going to be suspicious if you dress like this, regardless of skin color.
...regardless of skin color.
Haha It's cute that you think this
Oh I get it, those Pizza Huts are like restaurants. Yeah, I know in a sit down "a waiter or waitress takes your order" place you don't pay till you're done. Over here, when you walk into a delivery oriented pizza place you give them your order, pay for it, then wait till it's done. When it's done, you come up and get it, then go sit down to eat or leave with it.
Haha It's cute that you think this
Ah, Zeke. Paradigm of the high horse.
