http://www.state.gov/j/drl/rls/hrrpt/2010/eur/154415.htm i've only visited belgium once, couldn't be bothered beyond Antwerp, but it's very hard to believe that the situation is that different. [editline]5th March 2012[/editline] so the whole bloody essay on why that's economically incorrect was done for no reason, thanks a lot.
Sorry, the essay did clear things up. Maybe "the quota tries to do that" would fit better in light of what you explained?
"Well Mr. Johnson, you are better qualified, have more experience, and the endorsement of several high-ranking members of this company. Sadly, our woman quote is to low, so we'll have to hire your female contestant. Better luck next time!" 100% Fair and logical, would support again [editline]5th March 2012[/editline] Rate me dumb all you want, forcing employers to hire women even if they have worse qualifications simply because of their gender is retarded
Rate me dumb all you want, forcing employers to hire women even if they have worse qualifications simply because of their gender is retarded
this doesn't happen and your example was dumb, that's why i'm rating you dumb.
how affirmative action works: two people have basically the same qualifications one is black, or some other category they're trying to get more of the other is a white male they choose the black one over the white one they were going to have to make a decision anyway
So to improve gender equality they are going to reduce gender equality? Fucking politicians. [editline]5th March 2012[/editline] I'm all for womens rights but that doesnt mean they should get better treatment than anyone else
It's hamfisted policy but it does try to resolve a glaring issue within executive jobs today. Why, when women make up half of them population, should they be so under-represented in executive positions, similar to why do men not have greater representations in nursing. They are going for the quick-fix rather than attacking the cause
True, but we should spread the awareness. Do you also go around "let teens be stupid and fuck without protection"?
then make higher volumes locked but unlockable. The solution isnt to "ban everything"

[editline]5th March 2012[/editline] I'm all for womens rights but that doesnt mean they should get better treatment than anyone else
The genders are currently unequal, and have been so for a long time. You really think their should be no corrective measure for the centuries-long discrimination against women in the workplace? It doesn't strike you as at all odd that, even though women make up a majority of the population, that they are vastly under-represented in executive positions, in government positions, and the like?
