oh god I wore contact lenses overnight tonight :tinfoil:
How much are these Ortho-k lenses cost to?
Everyone here is worried now and people are like "Boy am I glad I use glasses!" but you're probably gonna be fine if you don't leave them in for half a year. :v:
How much are these Ortho-k lenses cost to?
From three or five hundred up to a thousand or so dollars and you need the right eyes for them to work.
I assume she maybe able to get a pair of eye(s?) transplanted into her eye socket.
I'm glad my eyesight fixed itself. It literally did. I wore glasses for many years, then changed to contact lenses and after ~two years with lenses, I could see fine without them for some reason.
Everyone's sight slightly adjusts with age and old people become far-sighted, near-sightedness fixing itself instead. It's effect of eyeballs slightly stretching with age. If you were born far sighted it's only going to get worse tho.
I'm glad I have perfect vision. Contacts and glasses sound like such a pain in the ass.
You get used to wearing glasses very quickly. Dunno about contacts though. Also holy fuck this article is terrifying, she's pretty stupid for not following the instructions but noone deserves to get their eyes eaten by a bug. Goddamn
I assume she maybe able to get a pair of eye(s?) transplanted into her eye socket.
What? A whole eye transplant has never been done. It's too complicated to attach the optic nerve. She can get a corneal transplant, but if the rest of the eye has been damaged, there's really nothing they can do.

At the check-up, it became apparent that the contacts now caused blurry vision. After some measurements, it was discovered that my eyes had healed completely (previously I had +2.25 and +2.50). I've had glasses since I was 4. They told me I would be needing glasses or contacts for life. Still seeing sharp...
I assume she maybe able to get a pair of eye(s?) transplanted into her eye socket.
Too expensive and complicated, so they should instead stick a pair of cameras there
Dear journalist, Amoebas are no bugs. Fuck you for the mental image. Sincerely, me

Left eye is as stuffed as ever though, my glasses are lopsided now because one lens is so much thicker.
To join the contact/glasses discussion, I tried to wear contacts once and holy shit you feel like a goddamn hawk, but they are so hard to fit. I have to live with glasses even tho I look way better without em.
Wouldn't you have like, felt or noticed part of your eye slowly being eaten I mean fuck
The eyeball itself has no pain receptors. But yeah, I'd think you'd notice your eye being eaten away.
Complete and utter moron. She honestly had it coming.
That sucks and all but how the fuck do you even let this happen?
glasses or not, I still want to get eye surgery. I cannot wear contact lenses and my eyes are still developing (and thus I'm at a risk of nullifying the surgery)
Read article, removed lenses, went through a very thorough cleaning. I usually wear my lenses for about 2 months when they usually become useless on their own, but I wear contacts that are designed to "breathe" and not become as dry when you wear it while sleeping, and to last about a month. How the flying fuck do you manage to go 6 months with disposable contacts?
You NEVER, EVER wear contacts when sleeping, that's the basic rule. When you keep your eyes closed for extended periods of time the warmth behind your eyelids will allow for bacteria to develop at a much faster rate, plus you always move your eyes around when you sleep even if you don't realize it so you put yourself at risk of moving the lens around and potentially getting it on the side of your eyeball - not to mention that any irregularity in the inside or outside of the lens will scratch all over your eye while you sleep, and unlike when you're awake, you won't notice it. Wearing contacts for any longer than the indicated length, cleaning them with anything else than proper solution and wearing them while sleeping are three dumb mistakes that will make it very easy for you to catch an infection and either lose an eye or a ton of money on medical expenses.
Complete and utter moron. She honestly had it coming.
I've always thought it was dumb that people used complete and utter side by side like that. It's like calling something large and sizeable, or smart and intelligent. The words mean the same damn thing.
That sucks and all but how the fuck do you even let this happen?
I'm more interested in how it's even possible to use the same contact lenses for 6 months straight without ever taking them out.
Glasses aren't even that much of a hassle to use though. Contacts are probably much more difficult to deal with.
Contacts aren't much of a hassle either when you get used to putting them in quickly. They are fairly safe to use if you clean them and replace them when you're supposed to. You are recommended to take a yearly eye check too just to be sure.
I've always thought it was dumb that people used complete and utter side by side like that. It's like calling something large and sizeable, or smart and intelligent. Your think she would have changed them at some point. Or even tried removing them when she started experiencing vision troubles. I feel bad it happened, it totally sucks. But god damn it seems so avoidable- even if she didn't know the risks association with leaving them in so long
All these assholes in here whose eyes fixed themselves.. while I'm here not even seeing the big E on the chart, couldnt tell you it was an E if I didnt know. I think it's something like I can at 20 feet what others can see at 400. I dunno if I want lasik or just keep my contacts, anyone have good or bad reviews of lasik?
Nah man, contacts are the shit. Feels like you're wearing nothing at all, but you can see perfectly, and keep perfect peripheral vision, and no bulkyness on yo face. Just need to be good with hygiene. Not even a hassle, poke your eyes once in the morning and once in the evening and give em a little clean and you're good.
Having to poke yourself in the eye every morning sounds like some weird tradeoff from a wish granting genie.
This is horrific and sad but wow is this girl a dumbass or what.
i need to get lasik asap
ok maybe i don't want contacts
And that kids is why you take them out and bathe them in solution every fucking night.
A bug ate the eyeballs ey? This is the very definition of a sensationalist headline.
half glad I can't physically put contacts in. I really want them but I have stupidly long eyelashes that just destroy anything going in
