Why not just have a government-program which gives safes to gun owners? Deduct from tax returns, and it'll be delivered and installed by government workers. I'll say it like I always do: Put it under the United State Postal Service, and initiate a program for delivery of furniture. Would give safes to everyone who owns a firearm, even people who would have a hard time purchasing a safe when they don't have the means to purchase a safe and a firearm together(people who have low-income). This would ensure that people would have safes, have means of protection in low-income areas, and they'd be able to lock the safe and keep their firearms from getting stolen by thieves. Another method would be making it mandatory for household construction to include a firearm and personal item safe. This would become mandatory to be insured by insurance companies, and ownership of such safes would ensure safety of important documents, firearms, and otherwise.
Yep, literally like 20 minutes from me. 12 inch knife, loaded AK, a .45 and a .22 with plenty of rounds. Lots of people were talking about it, wonder what "Demands" he had. Doesn't seem to be linked at all to the threats made to the schools around here made last week.
Huh this school is down the street from me, my brother and sister went there and I should have gone there as well but I went to another nearby school instead. Feels crazy when something like this happens close to home...
This sort of thing makes me want them to enforce access laws. IE: If you're a parent you HAVE TO OWN A SAFE, and have to keep them locked up, if your kid fucks up and accesses a weapon not in a safe, and the police find out you didn't have a safe, you're charged with accessory to the crime, and sentenced as such. They aren't inconvenient, and could potentially save lives. This kind of bullshit is what gives gun-owners a bad name Look, lets call a spade a spade, guns are dangerous in the wrong hands, the best way to keep them OUT of the wrong hands is to have safes.( That is.. unless you're cool with full-retard laws like "8 round limit in mags, no pistol grips, no centerfire weapons) OR you're cool with someone just being able to break into your house and steal your weapons.. which contributes to them getting into the wrong hands.
I think in Australia if you own a gun it is a law to keep it in a safe or something similar, which is nice. Makes sense really (Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though I'm just going off what people have told me)

You can also only take handguns to shooting ranges and nowhere else (except the gun store or whatever), and afaik it must be locked up when you're transporting it

You can buy cheap safes to circumvent this but said safes can easily be just picked up and carried out the door and then pried open off site. The safe I have weights less than 100 pounds, I own it purely for protection against a house fire. A good safe will typically cost well over $500 and is the type of thing that is bolted to the wall and floor. For your average person, it's not always readily affordable or really viable for all living situations. You can't put something like that in an apartment, for instance. A kid stealing an AK from his parents and then threatening to do something bad with it will not affect him in the slightest.
I know a good portion of Facepunch is pro-gun laws, but does nobody see this as a reason why civilians should not have guns?
do you not see the the crusades as a reason all metals and sharp objects should be banned materials? do you not see 9/11 as a reason all aircraft should be discontinued? if you just spent like 30 seconds putting actual brain power into that logic you wouldn't need someone else to tell you why it doesn't make sense. this is yet another reason why the entire educational system should be done away with and rebuilt from the ground up. there's another thread on SH right now about a girl who just killed herself because she couldn't go a day in her life without being bullied. the educational system breeds mental illness, it's broken and toxic from the foundations of its existence. I don't know how many dead 14 year olds it's going to take for people to realize that this century old educational system is completely disfunctional
Your average person in Australia doesn't own a gun. Like myself, I'm a broke-ass college student but my firearms collection was pushing $10k in value at one point, but I was completely incapable of investing into a nice safe because I live on the third floor of an apartment complex and theres no way I could get a 1 ton safe up 3 flights of stairs.
I'd love to have an AK-47. $15,000~ rifle. Man, the joy of mainstream media mistaking the AKM..
A normal AK-47 does not cost $15,000. Unless you are buying like the best freaking AK-47 rifle in existence. A nice one will run you around a 1,000 you can get some decent ones in the 800-700 dollar price range.

Perhaps acclimate yourself on the history of the original AK-47.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-47

I think everyone misunderstood what I said about "AK-47"s I understand the ORIGINAL Ak-47s are very rare and a lot of money. It's my fault I said AK-47, what I meant to say was a AK derivative just wanted to clarify that.

Reading this thread, how many facepunchers live in San Antonio?
I think it really says something that the student can see this and the adults generally can't.
That's because they're subject to it. OR at least witness to it. Parents and school staff often don't believe claims of bullying, or if they do the actions they're able to take due to school board policy are insufficient.
