this thread is a trainwreck
It sure is a "n00b filter", so I kind of approve of it.
No filter is a good filter when your goal is to appeal to the largest audience possible, no matter the skill.
No filter is a good filter when your goal is to appeal to the largest audience possible, no matter the skill.
Not all distros are the same... in that case, Ubuntu is just perfect I hear of people using it for the first time and they seem somewhat comfortable with it
wine and not everybody uses computers for games linux is for serious shit, not use by snarky and naive teenagers who get a hard-on when playing TF2 [editline]03:02PM[/editline] shut up
I've been trying to say this for a long time, but I've never been able to say it so well. [editline]03:41PM[/editline]
why does everything have to be user-friendly? linux in general is fine as it is. windows is for children and linux is for adults
The Slackware definition of user friendly is something that doesn't get in the user's way. It should be something that the user can make sense of, and I know most people aren't like this but using the command line makes sense to me. It's how I think, and I can get more work done by using it. Sure it's not "user friendly" for most people, but it's user friendly to me.
What if I like both? What does that make me? Some sort of man child?
it makes you somebody who is capable of using both and enjoys what both of them can offer [editline]04:09PM[/editline]
And Linux is also for die hard DoD:S Players too, it seems.
how am I die-hard [editline]penis[/editline] I was raised in a household that uses both windows and linux, so I have a basic understanding of both. if linux was the norm, everybody would be using that and giving people shit for using windows. so it's really a dumb thing to argue about
why does everything have to be user-friendly? linux in general is fine as it is. windows is for children and linux is for adults
hahaha
O hey, it does the same but is easier to use, it's for children :downs:
There is no other usable system besides Windows. Windows are obviously faultless and everyone who doesn't use them must be either crazy or seeking attention. Seriously, I can get Linux isn't suitable for everyone, and not everyone can appreciate it. I wouldn't even recommend Linux to anybody who I knew might not be comfortable with it, or blame him for not trying it. However, when people bash it, without ever really using it, or knowing people who really use the system to it's potential, they just act like ignorant morons. [editline]10:32PM[/editline] There ARE numerous things rotten about Windows, and nobody will prove me otherwise. Why does Security Essentials even exist? It's essential, even from the name, for god's sake. Why isn't it default part of the system? [editline]10:33PM[/editline] Why are Antiviruses left for third party at all? Microsoft should know it's system the best. Again, Antivirus should be default part of the system.
Good thing I use Ubuntu.
wine and not everybody uses computers for games linux is for serious shit, not use by snarky and naive teenagers who get a hard-on when playing TF2
Mac is for serious shit like whatever serious shit it's used for, but at least it can play some decent vidya games now and doesn't require WINE or anything else to play them.
Doriol, naive shallow teenagers don't even know what TF2 or for that matter what Valve is. Please, shut your face before you get punched by Chuck Norris' beard. (Ironic comment on purpose)
I always find it amusing that people think bashing Linux because it lacks features that are made for Windows is good ammunition for an argument.
i think its funny that this thread was sopposed to be about something but someone said linux so its all about that
I wish I had a botnet so I could DDOS Microsoft's website.
Just boot up your LOIC and go to town. You radical person you. :downs:
Mac is good. [sp]/sarcasm[/sp] [editline]5:00[/editline] :page3:
i think its funny that this thread was sopposed to be about something but someone said linux so its all about that
Well OP did post a rather silly comic about linux, so it was basically about linux all the time.
if you want to be aggressive like that then linux is for children who want to feel intelligent and windows is for normal people
that is incredibly stupid
linux is shit and xkcdefg is for nerds
"linux is for adults and windows is for children" is also a retarded thing to say
no it's not windows is for entertainment and linux is for business
Linux is alright, it's free and once you get the hang of it it'll flow nicely. Especially if you only use it to surf the web and stuff, no need to do anything complicated to set it up at all. [editline]06:25AM[/editline] Some distros like Mint and Ubuntu set up almost everything for you, so if you want to feel like a smart linux nerd just boot a live CD of either. [editline]06:26AM[/editline] I'm like a mothafucken infomercial
no it's not windows is for entertainment and linux is for business
Windows is a bit of both
Windows is a bit of both
yes and so is linux but I'm speaking generally
Windows is a bit of both
Yeah but it's a lot cheaper for a company to run their servers on linux since the hardware costs are decreased and you (almost) never have to shell out for licenses.
Yeah but it's a lot cheaper for a company to run their servers on linux since the hardware costs are decreased and you (almost) never have to shell out for licenses.
Well I wouldn't know about that, but I'm sure businesses get special treatment when it comes to buying Windows [editline]11:34PM[/editline]
yes and so is linux but I'm speaking generally
Linux is fairly hard pressed to play video games so...
Yeah but special treatment costs monies a newly started company need to make monies :v:
Linux is fairly hard pressed to play video games so...
doesn't have many video games =/= incapable of playing video games
doesn't have many video games =/= incapable of playing video games
Yeah but I'm just saying Linux isn't quite as much for entertainment
Well getting linux to play PC games is kinda like getting a donkey to pull a tractor. If you have a gaming PC then buy windows for it, simple as that :3
Well getting linux to play PC games is kinda like getting a donkey to pull a tractor. If you have a gaming PC then buy windows for it, simple as that :3
can we not say PC instead of windows it really makes no sense
