Bussines still holds XP, and they can't switch that easy. Reasons: They can't pirate, so it's going to cost them for OS. They got software that is needed for work, that is also expensive and can't get pirated. It costs them to pay people to do it. They need to educate people for new OS, functions and so on. So, roundly, I would say it costs 1000€ per PC, and some time, and that time costs them too because employees can't work that time.
If you're still using XP there's something wrong with you.
There is no reason to switch. It still works. It still plays Games perfectly fine. They're pretty large, they're not using XP.
So? Tesco has the money, they want to upgrade so they can look better in the eyes of the moronic public. [editline]08:19PM[/editline]
Well there you go, a reason two switch! Really though, I think you'd like switching to Windows 7. It might take a little while to get used to, but it really is better.
Can you turn on program names on the task bar instead of big retarded buttons?
Can you turn on program names on the task bar instead of big retarded buttons?
Yes, but the big buttons works better once you get used to them.
oh god thread DERAILED
Can you turn on program names on the task bar instead of big retarded buttons?
Right Click on Taskbar -> Properties -> Use Small Icons and no, I prefer having more information on my taskbar and more space. The large buttons are awful looking and are counter-productive to me. At any rate, XP is still used by many businesses that can't afford to upgrade their machines. Gamers have no excuse, but offices and businesses have every right to stay where they are.

The place where my dad works still uses XP, and he tells me that they are getting close to being able to use vista. They have to make sure everything is functioning properly with the OS, which makes me wonder why it takes so long. But yes, this could hurt businesses.
They said the new format will be able to emulate the old style so it IS compatible with XP. There is a slight performance hit though, but atleast they still work on it.
It still plays Games perfectly fine.
until most game developers eventually start dumping dx9.
until most game developers eventually start dumping dx9.
this is pretty much the only real reason to upgrade lol.
And when they'll do that, I'll upgrade. Right now it's pointless.
have fun playing just ca- oh wait [editline]05:12PM[/editline] and windows 7 isn't $200 get your facts straight
I like how this turned into a giant "XP Vs. 7" war. Also, a good chunk of CNC milling machines used in manufacturing still use DOS. For us we can fight until the cows come home but for them it means they are forced to purchase newer and incredibly expensive (It's weird knowing DOS CNC controllers still cost $2000 brand new) hardware.
So, when will the first of these kind of drives come out? It says by 2011 all HD's should be expected to use this, so there must be some coming up soon or out now.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Upgrading=/=fixing.
have fun playing just ca- oh wait [editline]05:12PM[/editline] and windows 7 isn't $200 get your facts straight
There was absolutely no reason why Just cause 2 couldn't be optimized to work on XP. If i'm going to upgrade to a new operating system. The decision should be based off of the core strengths of the engine. Not because Eidos has a marketing deal with microsoft.
Your hard drives became obsolete the moment SSD came into existence.
The current price:capacity ratio means that SSDs aren't yet superior to regular hard drives.
The current price:capacity ratio means that SSDs aren't yet superior to regular hard drives.
You forget about speed and reliability. The Ace for SSD's
You forget about speed and reliability. The Ace for SSD's
Too bad it costs so much that all you can afford is 40gb ssd for OS booting.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Yeah I mean I'm still on Windows 3.11.
Yeah I mean I'm still on Windows 3.11.
Geos 8-bit :clint: I actually had that on a computer forever ago. Cool shit back in the day. 3.11 was the shit when it came out, though.
until most game developers eventually start dumping dx9.
Now the shadows look MARGINALLY BETTER! Only with DirectX1x!
Now that you mention it, it is. Windows 2000 died a couple of years after XP was released.
our school still has windows 2000. does that mean our school computers are crying?
Who cares about XP anymore?
Me. Considering I've been using it on the same computer for the last 8 years.
I've just seen no reason to switch.
dx10
dx10
Pfft. Think of a good reason next time.
