WJEC Computing. To teach us the basics in programming, we start with Visual Basic; at A2 we move onto whatever language we want as long as you can make the project(C, C#, C++, Java etc...) Exams are knowledge based and throw in the occasional "essay" question. (which you can simply bullet point ideas and throw in a tiny bit of analysis and get all the marks) You can also be incredibly vague and still get the marks.
correct, the GCSE IT course is absolutely pathetic. It only teaches you basic bullshit that people learned at the age of 6...
I got a D in IT at GCSE level. Why? Because all we learned was how to create leaflets in Publisher, I had literally no interest in the lessons because it wasn't what I wanted to know so didn't bother handing any coursework in. My IT teacher said I was hopeless. Now I work supporting IT systems for Fujitsu, John Lewis and other large companies. If I didn't already have an interest frm my own hobbies with IT then I'd have chosen another career because there's no way the syllabus at school would have made me think about a career in IT.
