What will happen in the case of war is this: US goes there, thinks they are awesome, bitch how they won one more war, make movies about it, make games about it, take everything these two countires have, stay there for more than 2 years. Put them in any order you like, but it'll happen.

Why don't we just give both sides small arms and then move in to take over once they've slaughtered everyone in each others' villages?

This isn't just two random countries pissing at each other, this is the same war by proxy we've been fighting for decades between people rebelling against America's imperialism and countries that are backed up by American money and military power. We might have invaded Venezuela ourselves back when he privatized the oil industry and kicked the American corporations out of town, had we not been bogged down in the Middle East already.
