I demand video or audio of this, or at least like a million sources. More than the statement anything about HL3 coming out of Valve is highly unlikely.
Gabe "funny guy" Newell strikes again.
Their strategy is expanding to more platforms, not dropping them. From that very fact you can conclude he was either joking or this is made up to begin with.
He does have a point saying that this will start the revolution and I can feel how he backed away from windows 8, but what about win 7? It's not like noone is using it anymore and everybody is switching to 8. Although I bet he's shitting us, come on. Such a thing suddenly out of the blue?
no it won't start no revolution. you're not going to see masses of people switching from windows to linux just because valve supports it.
lol gabe don't change
Gabe "funny guy" Newell strikes again.
You do know he didn't say any of this shit? Op just made it all up..
It's most likely just Gabe pushing our buttons. He'd never do something like this.
I think that Gabe and Valve likes their fanbase too much to pull this.
Obvious satire.
"I care about the players!" You're making a large portion of people get a new OS just to play a game. If you cared about the players you wouldn't make it exclusive just because it's your favorite platform.
Linux is free..?
Yeah snipped that at the last minute after thinking some of the reasons why people go Linux. Same thing applies, some people don't want to switch to an OS just to play a game.
"I care about the players!" You're making a large portion of people buy a new OS just to play a game. Many can't afford a new OS. If you cared about the players you wouldn't make it exclusive just because it's your favorite platform.
Linux is free..?
Next up: Half-life 3 to become it's own operating system.
Half-Life 3 released as its own console. Only plays one game. Costs as much as a high end computer.
If you believe this is real you must be goddamn stupid, they would lose immense profits because of this.
Wow, some people in this thread actually thought this might be serious? Maybe all my years as a professional troll is what made me recognize it immediately.
Gabe, you're a
Next up: Half-life 3 to become it's own operating system.
I would like this for some reason. Selecting HL3 as a boot option.
I never thought I'd ever want to say "fuck you, Gabe". I hope that was a joke so much right now :(
Linux is free..?
You'd still have to switch to a whole new OS for one game, what a great idea.
You'd still have to switch to a whole new OS for one game, what a great idea.
That's a great idea indeed. :v:
Better be a joke. I don't want to have to kill myself.
Dammit, I hoped this was Gabe trolling. First part is real, but it doesn't say anything about HL3. Second part is complete bullshit I think.
That's a great idea indeed. :v:
I was being sarcastic :v:
If you believe this is real you must be goddamn stupid, they would lose immense profits because of this.
I wanted to believe it, not because I've ever used Linux, but because damn this could be a huge change of things. It'd be interesting to see this unfold. Tons of controversy, and tons of people switching over to Linux. I really wouldn't mind dual booting to Linux. :v: It could turn Linux into a gaming platform. Imagine an OS optimized for gaming, very resource light. Like console OS-es. You use it for gaming, and use Windows for the rest of your stuff. It would probably speed up the development of OpenGL, maybe to the point where it becomes a competitor to DirectX.
not only this is fake, valve aren't stupid enough to just lose 100% of the market. it wouldn't start a revolution, just would create an obscure game nobody will play sorry linux users, but that's the truth
Install gentoo
Am i the only one ok with this?
valve doesn't have enough influence to make that work now if ea and activision tried something together, that could work
I laughed so loud while reading this, thanks OP.
