Yeah, totally in the same vein in anyway. There's a difference between being an elected official and following democratic procedure, and being a raging fucking idiotic mob and breaking the law. Civil liberties aren't to be trampled upon, and a mob is a trample upon them. This is a failure of democracy, and approaches a step on our civil liberties.
Hell, you know why he was in power so long, and you know why what he was doing was wrong? Probably not, but, here it goes anyways. He was in power because he was in what was considered to be a province/state of his party meaning that just about no matter what, he would get elected. Now, what he did wrong was, his veto was keeping the rest of the country, a country that did not collectively elect him, from having what it wanted.

There's a huge difference between a lynch mob and majority rule in politics. With a lynch mob you're pretty much fucked if you're being charged, with majority rule the minority can still have its say and possibly change the outcome of a vote. And to be fair, the majority of people who dislike Atkinson have valid reasons.

Here's one for you - recent surveys have shown that 85% of the population of Australia support the publication and distribution of child pornography. Does this mean that such a thing should go ahead? Regardless, the concept remains the same - a majority vote does NOT make something right.

Actually, he remained in power because those in his electorate chose him. Just because its traditionally strong Labor territory does NOT mean he is guaranteed a seat - after all, look what happened to John Howard.
And frankly, I support the man in his veto. Given the quality of games that receive an MA15+ rating, I shudder to think of what kind of filth would reach our shores under a R18+ banner.

You're an incredible idiotic tool. You don't even try and grasp concepts outside of your immediate thought processes.
