No, that would be a green-headed clown in a purple business suit.
The education system is probably the cause of a lot of ignorance and the result of the election of lots of Republican candidates. but there's no way it's going to be fixed anytime soon.
So essentially
"Hey man you wanna be a congressman?"
"Fuck that ill just go have sex with a hooker without a condom"
Since stds are more liked then congress.

stds for a virgin is more likely to pass than congress passing a legitimate bill or debate
One probable cause for the 5% approval rate is some people think "Congress" is bad but "My representative isn't part of the problem."
Congressional limbo!
How low can they go?
3% or lower?

i bet 2%

Dont you mean brainwashed to want education. Due to teachers begging students to go to university.

I don't like the sound of that.
Last month congress had 9% approval. Now it's 5%. With any luck all the idiots will either die or be voted out. Then we can bitch about new people not doing their jobs. :suicide:
When I have a 5% approval rating at my job, I get fired.
5%? Dammit, I'm out $20. I was aiming for lower than that.
I don't like the sound of that.
I'm just saying we have a long way to go before a revolution. We're at step 1 right now.
even with the ratings so low, i'm willing to bet that most congressmen will be voted back in though
because basically republicans don't like the democrats so they say they don't approve of congress, and vice versa
which makes me sad now that I think about it
I blame the education system. If the American peoples were more educated, then we wouldn't be picking morons and pseudo-Christians as politicians.
That wouldn't help unless it also came with choices that weren't morons. Fact of the matter is, right now, the only choices we have are morons. Having well educated voters is not going to change anything if all they have to pick between is either a greedy, power-tripping Republican shitbag or a greedy, power-tripping Democratic shitbag. On top of that the popular vote doesn't mean a fucking thing anymore, if the electoral college has other ideas they can and will override the popular vote.
Right now it's a matter of guessing which candidate will fuck us over the least and hoping he doesn't turn out to survive on liquified malice or something. It's why I don't vote at all. I'd rather choose nothing at all than choose between the afore-mentioned shitbags.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. Kids have always hated school, this goes back to antiquity. Kids don't want to sit still and learn, they want to play, and school tends to prefer they did the former.
yeah so they're doing it wrong, what's your point
I don't think that has anything to do with it. Kids have always hated school, this goes back to antiquity. Kids don't want to sit still and learn, they want to play, and school tends to prefer they did the former.
It isn't that kids don't want to learn, it's that the current school system isn't tailored for enlightenment or proper education. It's tailored towards passing tests and making sure that schools can secure funding. Even during times where money isn't an issue, it's about regurgitating information from textbooks, and that's atrocious.

Kids have always hated school. They don't want to learn, they want to have fun. It doesn't matter what direction the school system is aimed, they just plain don't want to sit still for more than five seconds.

How do you know this? It's a ridiculous generalization to just say 'kids don't want to learn'.
you keep saying that
[editline]1st January 2012[/editline]
its the schools fault they dont sit still, its their job to teach, to educate, to spread knowledge, too bad thats been confused for 'get them to pass the test and we'll be a-ok' when the tests unfortunately have nothing to do with competency and school is more of an officialized "are you good at the presented trivia?" even though most of what they teach in american schools is plain wrong
like an entertainer, it is their job to keep their audience paying attention. if they cannot do that they are failing at their craft and should be blamed in entirety because theyre being paid to do that and if theyre not doing it- well, ive said it a million times, hopefully ive drilled it into your skull by now.
I know firsthand. I never wanted to learn anything as a kid. I just wanted to play. I had a bicycle, I had a PC, I had legos, I had RCs, I had TV, I wanted to do those things instead of sitting in school learning about stuff I still haven't needed ten years later. Same goes for all of my friends. And my 56 year old parents. And their parents. And my friend's parents. And anyone I care to ask. All they wanted to do as a kid was play, not sit there in class, and that spans seventy years or so.
Should the schools be reformed? Sure. I agree that the school system is six kinds of fucked. But you can't expect school system reform to just flip a switch so to speak. You still have to force kids to sit still for five seconds regardless of the method, because they'd rather be outside on their bicycle or in their room swearing into XBL.
Now do you understand what I'm saying? Yes? Good. No? Re-read it, I can't make it any clearer than that.
I'm surprised there hasn't been some posts about anarchism or some stupid bullshit yet.

Well amazingly enough, I too have had firsthand experience. In school, I was always interested in learning more, especially in math and science. I had a set of geology books and didn't have a problem studying languages either. So your 'firsthand experience' is no more valid than mine.

Playing is learning. Learning is inherently fun because fun is experienced when new connections are being made in the brain. This is why watching the same movie repeatedly isn't as fun, and why beating the same boss in a video game repeatedly isn't as much fun.
School, especially for younger kids, should be designed to be fun. The best way to make school fun is to use hands on approach in everything, because the most connections are made in the brain when people are actively doing something, versus being lectured to.

Like I was saying earlier, the current public school system is not tailored to the pursuit of knowledge or enlightenment.
I don't think it is right to point a finger at every American person and say "You! You are dumb! This is your fault for not being educated!"
The school system is fucked up yes, but it is better than nothing at all. Those who want to excel and go further can, and those who don't give a shit drop out. Those people hurt everybody, but I doubt a reformation of the school system can change that issue short of removing the option altogether.
That being said, I agree with several of the points above in that Learning and Enlightenment have their place- and it is not within the walls of American schools, unfortunately.
That is subject to change, hopefully
