The issue is religion, the vehicle is violence.
Uhh.. Isn't it the opposite?
It's super ironic, but really one of the safest places in Europe if you're Jewish is Germany. :v:
Because anything relating to Nazism in that country is a super illegal offense.
Oh, right, because as soon as something uses evolutionary psychology it's wrong and you're justified in using a retarded expression. I hate that it's Carl Sagan who said this, because it appears like I'm quoting this for the sole reason of it being Sagan who said this, but it's still true: "In our tenure on this planet we've accumulated dangerous evolutionary baggage — propensities for aggression and ritual, submission to leaders, hostility to outsiders — all of which puts our survival in some doubt." [editline]8th April 2012[/editline] Pretty much.
Evolutionary psychology is laughed at because there no way of testing it or finding evidence of it, it's all based on assumptions, that's why people get pissed off at it
Religion r why everyone cannot get along :downs: its not because humans are naturally a violent bunch or anythnig like thatt hurr
Fixed that for you.
Go ahead and use evolutionary psychology but you are walking into a minefield of unsubstantiated quasi-intellectual justifications for terrible ideology or ideas, in this case you wouldn't technically be wrong but it is akin to blaming the Romans for the Spanish Inquisition. The issue is religion, the vehicle is violence.
The issue is xenophobia. If there is something humans are good at it's shoving people into groups, whether it's skin color or religious belief or class, and judging people in a group that differs from yours. Religion can be just another way of justifying your hate.
Evolutionary psychology is laughed at because there no way of testing it or finding evidence of it, it's all based on assumptions, that's why people get pissed off at it
It's not like adaptionists are just guessing for the hell of it. It's advocated by people like Richard Dawkins, people who do it for a living. I'm pretty sure they know how to make educated guesses. Oh, and sure, it's laughed at. Whatever:
The adaptationist approach is steadily increasing as an influence in the general field of psychology.

That's not that as easy as you make it seem for some people.
Im living in the country where is more than 90% population are Muslims, and it works for me. But once my classmates saw star of David on my neck, they asked me, if im Jew. And I acted like a dumb, said what does it means, im just wearing it because i like the symbol. They said me that, Jews wearing it, so i was like whoo-whoo i didn't know that. And I putted it on my bag. Everything was fine. I cant imagine what would happened i they knew that im Jew. They really hate Jews out there.
Go ahead and use evolutionary psychology but you are walking into a minefield of unsubstantiated quasi-intellectual justifications for terrible ideology or ideas
You mean like all kinds of psychology?
Well, it's happened to me before. I told a friend I was Jewish, and unknowing of what he'd set in motion told someone else, etcetera. It eventually ended in me getting beat up and harassed quite a bit. And judging from a recent article I'm not alone in that. There are two synagogues in the country, and both have bulletproof windows and massive security, because they keep getting shot at. And 11 reported threats or vandalism towards Semites out of a group of 819 in the entire country this last month doesn't really bode too well for me. Now I genuinely am not trying to push an agenda here, I like Muslims. I like everyone in fact, it's just that it so happens that a lot of people are angry about Palestine and take it out on Jews because of some backwards logic. Hell, I'm not even an Israel supporter. I think this issue is commonly swept under the rug for two reasons - the fact that we're such a small minority anyway and the fact that anyone who accuses anyone of antisemitism gets told "you Jews blame antisemitism on everything" - and it really is an overused rhetoric by Israel, but when it's supposed to be used it really can't because of that.
It's more likely you're dealing with neonazis than muslims most of the time.
Evolutionary psychology is laughed at because there no way of testing it or finding evidence of it, it's all based on assumptions, that's why people get pissed off at it
Yeah, we're totally not controlled by our animal urges in a slew of factors in our lives. Totally immune to our heritage. Men and women are mentally completely the same too right since both don't have some minor cognitive differences from long term specialisation.
Arab spring sounds like it's a time when spring starts and after a long winter arabs come outside and dance in the sunshine. Shame in reality it's the opposite.
Being killed and discriminated simply for what you believe in? That's terrible, especially around this time of year. I thought the Arab Spring was supposed to make the Middle East more tolerant, not this.

Sure there are a few things that are in built, but for the most part the human brain is a blank slate until it begins to take in knowledge.
Religion
Yeah it's totally religion and not the fact that these people are close minded and intolerant regardless. I'm sure if it weren't for religion, these people would be upstanding citizens.
Yeah pretty much. Sure there are a few things that are in built, but for the most part the human brain is a blank slate until it begins to take in knowledge.
Actually, no. Women are more than twice as likely to experience depression or generalized anxiety. Women also have larger Wernicke's and Broca's areas, leading to greater facility with language. Among other things.
Religion always get the hate because people get addicted too it and become a fanatic towards it, and people go overboard and start killing over it and what it's against. There should be a universal law to not let religion overtakes you and to become too addicted towards religion, so that religion hatred towards one another dies down and become less of a taboo.

How the fuck would you even police that?
What? How the fuck would you even police that?
By rebooting the Spanish Inquisition.
