Oregon doesn't have sales tax :smug: But I haven't lived there in 4 years :frown:
In our country, sales tax is 19% 19 FUCKING PERCENT And that's before they add more taxes to basically anything after you purchase something. In fact, the EU had to bar our government from making new taxes as we're at the fucking limit of taxes allowed. Oh, and they plan to raise it to 20% too.
That isn't charged on essential items like food and toiletries eh? Same deal here, just not as high.
It's 0% here in New Hampshire. Our schools are paid for by you massholes coming up and doing tourist things. Oh, and state alcohol and lottery sales.
lmao oregon here with 0% sales tax

I believe that the reason your government even kept currency is because they have not converted the whole world to communism yet, so currency is still needed. Communism is against the very essence of the American dream of obtaining wealth and being superior to those who are poor. We will not allow you to convert our great country to your communist/dictatorship country. :911:

I do all my grocery shopping and whatnot on base, so I don't have to pay sales tax on that sort of thing. I still have to cough up around 5-7% if I buy anything from the stores off base, but it's not bad at all when you consider how much money I save by getting my groceries from the commissary; which would be dirt cheap even if you did have to pay sales tax.
You pay sales tax on food in the US?
Not in MA, at least: "The state imposes a 6.25% sales tax on retail sales of tangible personal property—except for groceries, clothing (up to $175.00), and periodicals. The sales tax is charged on clothing that costs more than $175.00."
Can't you just buy 174$ worth of shirts and stuff, put it in your car, come back, and do it again to not get taxed, fuck the police
I think it's mostly for suits and tuxedos.
Ours is 7% in NJ
MN is 7%, SD doesn't charge a sales tax but they make all their money off tourism
Ours is only 6% in Michigan. That probably explains Detroit.
