Sorry for wanting the media to be accurate in their stories.
It's just pedantic and annoying to cry about it every time. They aren't gun experts and they probably didn't even get a chance to see the bazooka.
Well, I guess that's what you could call... ...a time bomb. [sp]That was terrible[/sp]
you're not getting my point. How is the type of weapon even relevant? It shoots rockets, and that's all that we need to know. Would it change the story if it was an other type of explosive weapon? no [editline]10th April 2012[/editline] that is like replying to "a van ran over an explosive barrel today, killing 5" with "it was A FUCKING MINIVAN. SHITTY REPORTERS"
because when you're talking about historical pieces it's best to be specific, especially when pushing the point that the destruction was some sort of crime against history. panzerfausts are much more valuable in a historical context than bazookas will ever be.
I wanna go to some where like the black forest in Germany with a metal detector sometime, find some really cool stuff.
Like dig up a landmine and blow your knees off maybe
Like dig up a landmine and blow your knees off maybe
Years ago a family from my town went for a picnic up some mountains, where military training used to take place. One of the kids started wandering around a bit, and not far from where his family were sitting, he found an unexploded mortar shell. The kid was very young, and didn't really understand what it was, he picked it up and threw it against a rock, where it exploded, killing him. I'm not actually sure on the specifics of that, but it's a story that's been rattling around my town for a while.
you're not getting my point. How is the type of weapon even relevant? It shoots rockets, and that's all that we need to know. SHITTY REPORTERS"
Same with you. You're getting all defensive about a simple observation I made. Saying that, providing inaccurate information is unprofessional... And a minivan is a type of van, so your analogy was a bit crappy... Oh, and the Panzerfaust isn't a rocket - it's a recoilless rifle. So a better analogy would be to compare a van to a bicycle, or something else unrelated to it.
you still don't even know if it WAS a panzerfaust or not. it's still probably a type of RPG, so my analogy still stands.
True, but: 1. Note how in my first post I said "more likely a Panzerfaust". 2. Following on from 1., Panzerfausts were mass produced during WWII on a huge scale and were handed out like candy to anyone prepared to use them (including civilians). Thus, it is much more likely to be a Panzerfaust (as I originally stated). 3. http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/0,1518,826595,00.html - The original article that the OP article uses as a source. The picture at the top shows a Panzerfaust, with the caption calling it a Bazooka.
20k tons of war material being collected each year just goes to show how much the super powers of World War II threw at the war effort.
I wish I found panzerfausts laying around

Why not de-mil it and put it in a museum? The fuck?
There are tons of these mother fuckers, they are always digging up guns, helmets, bullets, bombs, sometimes even vehicles are found.
Holy shit, this sounds like something you hear advertised on fucking Grand Theft Auto. "Come down to the ammu-nationâ„¢ easter egg hunt, this Easter, and whoever can find a weapon can keep it! *explosion*"
There are tons of these mother fuckers, they are always digging up guns, helmets, bullets, bombs, sometimes even vehicles are found.
Plus they probably have plenty in a far better state of repair.

Nobody wants to defuse that, probably much safer for everyone involved just to destroy it, unfortunately.
More likely a panzerfaust. For some reason, the media always calls any rocket-based weapon a bazooka.
I'd have said it's a Panzerschreck seeing as they're similar to Bazookas. Could've just been a round for it. It could have been an actual bazooka too, the Allies did invade Germany.
