Republicans are still upset that a black man is in the White House. Notice how they didn't give a shit that Romney, Gingrich, or Santorum didn't mention God either.
Honestly it's probably more that he's a democrat, and not a racial thing. If it was John Edwards or some other honky in the White House they'd be just as pissy.
You guys recognize some old hag wearing a silly crown.
Who, may I remind everyone, supposedly received their position through some kind of 'divine right'.
I am waiting for a certain someone to post in this thread supporting them republicans.
We give thanks to the fucking Native Americans for teaching us how to grow corn, you ignorant conservative fucks.
We give thanks to the fucking Native Americans for teaching us how to grow corn, you ignorant conservative fucks.
And then taking over the region, and afterwards the entire sub-continent.
The history of corn is much more important than the ravaging of a culture.
The only legacy the Natives gave us is the cream corn.
They'd just love a theocracy huh?

Those who bring race into every matter disgust me.
Or maybe they're upset that a democrat is in the White House. Those who bring race into every matter disgust me.
Could it not be both? I have no doubt they'd be shitting on the president even if he was a White Democrat rather than a Black one, but the factor of race just adds another layer to their mudslinging. Even if mainstream Republican politicians aren't outright being racist about it, their more extreme base voters are another story. Visit any Fox News article's comment section about Obama, and you'll find evidence of that.
Screw up? Hardly...I call it progress
Hey, in their defense, Thanksgiving is a CHRISTIAN holiday, therefore some mention of the CHRISTIAN god should be made.

It might be my fatigue, but that seems only fair to me.
Stop CAPITALIZING CHRISTIAN. The PILGRIMS never taught the NATIVE americans ANYTHING christian, It was all about being taught how to grow CORN. Then the PILGRIMS RAPED and PILLAGED the NATIVE americans. [editline]26th November 2011[/editline] Besides, The holiday isn't christian anymore(Not that it ever was.), It's just another corporate event all about selling a lot of food.
"Our leader is separating church and state! What an outrage!"

But you have it completely wrong because, despite the fact that it has become a hallmark holiday, it's still, to some, a holiday for giving thanks to God, and/or being thankful for what they have.

The Queen doesn't mention God in her speech every year in the UK, and CHRISTMAS has fucking CHRIST in the name, Why should Obama mention god?
Sometimes I want to be president, just so I can be a sarcastic smart ass to people like these who get mad because Obama didn't mention God.

They live with it because it invokes the racist wing of the right, which gets them more votes, which is ultimately all they care about.
You know, I get the feeling YOU are christian and/or outraged at this too.
You know, I get the feeling YOU are christian and/or outraged at this too.
Me? Cause I am Christian. I'm not one of the radical ones like the WBC, I just go about my day like a normal person. I'm slightly outraged by this, but it's probably more the fact that I've been awake for 26 hours now that is causing this debate. I'm sorry, I'll can it now.
Go to bed then.
Why is this even news?
Republicans are mad at Obama. In other news, the sky is blue.
So I guess we're just ignoring separation of church and state then.
No. Church and state should be two massively seperate entities, Infact this was what the U.S. founding fathers fought for, And why they left England.
Ironically as far as religious freedom goes, we would have been better off staying with the Brits.
I'm with Johnny on this one. It pisses me off that these people are so presumptuous that they think that they can speak for "Americans" in general. Oh wait I forgot that since I'm a moderately left leaning atheist I'm not a REAL 'MERKAN
Hey, in their defense, Thanksgiving is a CHRISTIAN holiday, therefore some mention of the CHRISTIAN god should be made.
How is stuffing your face considered christian? [editline]25th November 2011[/editline] Don't you guys have that sin called gluttony?
this is why I like the UK so much. If you don't believe in god, it's not a fucking national scandal. This is a party that not only hates someone because he is a secrit muslim, but also because his preacher disliked America because of it's racism.
