But you have it completely wrong because, despite the fact that it has become a hallmark holiday, it's still, to some, a holiday for giving thanks to God, and/or being thankful for what they have.

They live with it because it invokes the racist wing of the right, which gets them more votes, which is ultimately all they care about.
