this is why I like the UK so much. If you don't believe in god, it's not a fucking national scandal. This is a party that not only hates someone because he is a secrit muslim, but also because his preacher disliked America because of it's racism.
They also hate him because he's a Democrat. Republicans want to absolute control and get pissy when they can't have it.
I am outraged he didn't mention Buddha. And Ashtar Sheran. And the Force.
Who, may I remind everyone, supposedly received their position through some kind of 'divine right'.
No one's believed that since the English civil war.
No one's believed that since the English civil war.
Doesn't change that it's still around.
I ate till I was full and thanked no-one but myself, my family, and those around me that I love. I sure as hell didn't thank "God".
Thank the farmers for growing your meal instead of being confused and praying to an entity that may or may not exist.
Ironically as far as religious freedom goes, we would have been better off staying with the Brits.
We don't want you anymore.
"HE DIDN'T MENTION THINGS I LIKE, WHAT AN OUTRAGE"
Since when was it a requirement for the US President, ruler of a nation whose rights include freedom of religion, to thank god whenever he speaks publicly?
I do?
Sure you do. It's just such a stressful event you completely lose your memory of it happening.
He didn't mention the Supreme Hedgehog God. Why would I believe anything that he says?
I dont know how anyone could consider voting for these people
sadly, a lot of people are like these people
Doesn't change that it's still around.
Only because it's tradition. The republicans aren't tradition, there is no excuse for them to be around.
I love that tolerance seems to be becoming a rare thing in the US, even over here in the sticks I can have a guy ask me if I want a christmas tree for my "celebrations". We then had a discussion about the split between commercial christmas and religon, He even made a joke about me being an infidel. I just fear the fact that a major player for the rulling of a powerful country can be so blind.
They also hate him because he's a Democrat. Republicans want to absolute control and get pissy when they can't have it.
Republicans already have a lot of control, if they don't, they use the "boehner tactic": cry until you get what you want.
These aren't Republican politicians saying this, it's radio hosts and editorial writers in newspapers.
These aren't Republican politicians saying this, it's radio hosts and editorial writers in newspapers.
True, but they're still Republicans.
"Somebody ought to remind Obama (and his speechwriter) that when Americans sit down around a meal today and give thanks, they give thanks to God."
Excuse me, no, you may not speak on behalf of the entire country of America, thank you. When I say my thanks on Thanksgiving, I give my thanks to the freedom seeking pilgrims who came over to an already owned land, claimed it as their own, betrayed the native inhabitants, weakened them with foreign disease, oppressed them, and drove them to near extinction. Not some mythical man in the sky. God didn't provide my food. The local butcher did.
I don't... [editline]26th November 2011[/editline] (User was banned for this post ("Blasphemy" - GOD))
this thread is now fake ban thread (User was banned for this post ("Derailing" - Hezzy))
WHY DIDN'T OBAMA GIVE THANKS TO ALL THE NORDIC GODS I AM OFFENDED Also my family is religious but we never do prayers or give thanks during holidays or meals, just shut up and dig in, and share stories or rumors.
Why would he mention someone who wasn't present? I didn't see God any ware this Thanksgiving!
Why would he mention someone who wasn't present? I didn't see God any ware this Thanksgiving!
You apparently didn't see a dictionary either.
i always enjoy the incredibly long prayers my extended family, on both sides, feels compelled to do at every meal.
