No they weren't.
Who the fuck told you that?
Stop making shit up.

Science told me.
Nowhere in that article is any kind of an indication the current administration is willing/planning on disclosing current information on extraterrestrials (if there IS any).
Good headline though, you should work for one of those "hype shit up" papers.

The aliens, if they have a spacefaring civilization, don't travel ''faster than light'', yet if they are advanced enough, they probably are able to cover large distances instantenously through space-folding using things like artificial wormholes.
The idea of FTL is quite impractical, and if it is possible, it would also be immensely dangerous to travel at such speed and a lot of energy would be put to waste.
Also, king of page 8 :v: :downs:
I hope you realise that your silly idea of 'wormhole travel was invented by fiction writers, not scientists.
And I hope you realise that the silly idea of wormhole travel and space folding comes under FTL travel? Because you're reaching a destination faster than light. Duh.
Plus any idiot should realise that if you can fold space, you can fold time. And I hope you realise that by sanctioning this silly wormhole crap you're also an advocate of time travelling aliens.
This is how silly you sound. You are a silly person.

Hmm, so I take it Albert Einstein and Nathan Rosen can't be considered scientists then? I take it Kip Thorne isn't a scientist either.
No they came up with the theory of wormholes and space time distortions.
Writers put 2+2 together and got 5 when they decided to throw ships through them.
and you mugs believed the fiction.

If some kind of exotic matter with negative pressure was found then one WOULD be able to traverse an Einstein-Rosen wormhole. Of course the huge problem is finding such matter because... well, it poses many problems itself... such as breaking the laws of physics!
However if dark energy actually exists and DOES repel things away from it as it's thought to then couldn't it be used to keep the throat of a wormhole open?

as soon as we can build structures like this, since it requires the same violation of physics. Then yes.

We are NOT alone.
But the aliens are at the opposite side of the galaxy.

this came to mind.

Got any proof that it isn't possible? Ever heard of an Einstein-Rosen bridge?
It's not a silly idea, it's something that we can't comprehend yet.

I'm using real solid, proven science here.
Not like 90% of the gullible posters.

Thermodynamics are a theory too, you know. We don't understand this stuff to a large extent. Luckily, we still have thousands of years to gain understanding of the more complicated science behind wormholes.
Thermodynamics are a theory too, you know. We don't understand this stuff to a large extent. Leave it to the AI's and Genejacks :v:
But the Second Law of Thermodynamics is proven, hence why they are called LAWS and not THEORIES.

Why the fuck does 99% of this thread consist of "GUYS WERE OBVIOSULY FANOT ALONE GUYS I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT THERE ARE MYNA GALGYxIES TEHREFORE WE ARE NOT ALEONE"

Because they believe drake's equation is definitive and not a bunch of ambiguous, speculative bullcrap.
Because you're assuming that 99% of this thread means that there's a advanced and civilized planet somewhere.
I think a planet that's filled with simple organisms would be more plausible. Plants, insects, single-celled shit, etc.
I'm talking about the amount of people saying the same thing over and over again.
This won't get anywhere
It's not a silly idea, it's something that we can't comprehend yet.
Greatest argument ever.
"It's not (whatever it actually is), you just can't comprehend it."
Try using it after:
A bad fuck! (I'm not a limp dick, you just can't comprehend the orgasm.)
A failed presidency! (Bush was actually great for the country, you just can't comprehend it.)
Poorly made dinners! (You can't comprehend how medium rare this steak is.)
Thermodynamics are a theory too, you know. We don't understand this stuff to a large extent.
Thermodynamics is proven beyond a doubt, we understand it perfectly, it forms the basis of all cosmology, we can not disprove it. It is a observation of what happens. It is a law.
You can't argue with thermodynamics.
You'll be silly for even trying. So don't even bother.
What people are suggesting with their silly science fiction ideas completely violates thermodynamics. THIS BREAKS REALITY.
Hence my vehement opposition for some obviously crack-pot ideas.

Psh, thermodynamics shouldn't even be a law. Who uses it in their daily lives other than neeeeerds? A car, on the otherhand, now that's useful.

A car was built with an understanding of thermodynamics. So was the power station that is supplying your computer right now. Since most things in modern life has a basis on the understanding of thermodynamics.
Now, I'm not entirely sure if you're being sarcastic :)

Mr. Mitchell is obviously referring to the data caches that were discovered on mars in 1986. Through close examination by several different rovers, it's been established that these artifacts can greatly increase our ability to maneuver about space. There's several organizations working on reverse engineering these data caches, but it's slow going until we can send a manned mission to mars to actually retrieve them and any other artifacts we may find.
There's also been a discovery of a very large mechanical object of unknown material inside Pluto's moon Charon. Scientists believe it may be the point in a network of objects that allow for FTL travel between systems.

To be fair, the amount of people in this thread that have absolutely no understanding on science is quite soul destroying. So it's not a massive leap of the imagination to think that you're one of them.
Bah. Fuck other life-forms from other planets. I don't care about intelligence and more advanced technology, cause I've got all I need.

That's understandable. But the car comment should've given it away. I guess I didn't make it obvious enough.

That'd be cool, if I believed you.
