It certainly wasn't under Bush though. Scapegoating aside, the guy created secret prisons across the world where even US citizens could "disappear". Sounds like like something Stalin would do. Of course we needed it for "defense against freedom and democracy, right?". Point is the idiot was manipulated by Cheney into gooning the American public for economic security and profit. Oh wait, but this was America! It's not like we've been taken advantage of by fear before... right? er... right?
:siren: CONSPIRACY THEORIST ALERT :siren: caps.
Obama is an alien. I had sufficient evidence to prove it, but the government kept me hush push. I feel soon will be the moment when I can reveal the sins of our country and become mooslam
ever heard of artificiall gravity or velocity dampers?
You're giving baseless words, not solutions. I can pick up and egg and call it a space time velocity damper. but we all know it's pure fiction.
You're giving baseless words, not solutions. I can pick up and egg and call it a space time velocity damper. but we all know it's pure fiction.
all i mean is that it can exist in the future
The only possible way for space travel is wormholes.
all i mean is that it can exist in the future
No, it probably can't. You can't 'dampen' acceleration. And if you did then you'd be fucked anyway as the rest of the ship would accelerate AWAY from you and you'd be smashed against a wall that's travelling towards you at a ridiculous speed and would be reduced to a disgusting, red liquid filled with some horrible looking pulp.
To anyone interested in some intelligent opinion please read my posts in this thread. If you do you will know why I think that aliens must have the technologies to travel between stars and that they must be visiting us all the time. They must be so advanced that every single citizen of a given civilisation should be able to visit the earth , as a tourist for example. I think that because traveling in the universe is so easy for them and because there is a lot of beings able to travel , it's impossible that none of theses beings have visited the earth. They are vey intelligent people , they know that it's not because the earth's civilisation is not advanced that they shouldn't study their planet. There is alway something to learn. They don't want to contact us for some reasons , but that doesn't prevent them from visiting the earth. They probably have curiosity , so they must be exploring other planets , just like we explore our planet , and get interested in less intelligent liveforms.
It's easy to travel interstellar distances, without breaking the light barrier. Who knows what kind of metabolisms those aliens may have? A 100,000 year journey could just be short nap to them. Or hibernation?
oh god [editline]06:48AM[/editline]
Or ever heard of a wormhole? No?
oh god [editline]06:49AM[/editline]
The only possible way for space travel is wormholes.
oh god [editline]06:50AM[/editline] 1) It's not easy to travel interstellar distances. 2) We don't even know if wormholes exist. 3) If wormholes do exist, try getting your atoms crushed together and living through it.
not again
Faster than light travel can also be done using warp. So you wouldn't be smashed at a wall because of the acceleration. It would be very nice, but by the time this becomes possible (if possible) we'd be either extinct, or we'd have evolved and/or decided that traveling anywhere is lame and without purpose.

Well, depending on how long it takes and what direction our evolution takes, we might change completely. I guess what I was going at is that it's simpler to "decode the universe" here on earth than create some functioning warp drive. I don't really know or have any reasonable arguments. Perhaps I was influenced by all the depressive future predictions on how we'll connect ourselves into one consciousness and find out how everything is pointless and become Buddhas or something. If this is what you mean by "the latter" :P
and suddenly you know exactly what's going to happened in the future?
And suddenly I understand the laws of physics a lot better than you.
Sigh seems I have to say this once every year. 1. So, if aliens have been in contact with us, why do they always choose to contact - and ONLY contact - the 'spooks', as it were. 2. What does the government gain from hiding it from us? 3. If aliens have actually visited us, as is hinted at in that artice...why do they apparently come down, mutilate a cow or two, and then leave? 4. why does this not seem completely retarded to anyone else.
in a universe this big there is other intelligent life. but there is some question in why they should even give a fuck about us.
Why the fuck do we care about them? I think they want the same thing as we want. And maybe they already found another planet that has it. But if they find us first and they don't like us, we're fucked because they'd be more advanced. Our space travel is still in it's baby shoes.
It would be impossible for aliens to get to earth.
go home kid
Hooray for the Government.
God is an alien.
there are billions x billions of stars out there, believing there are not any aliens out there is dumb
and saying there is a chance that and alien finds Earth is equally dumb.

Our space travel is still in it's baby shoes.
And if there ARE aliens, what makes us believe they are more intelligent than us?
It's almost impossible for absolutely no other life to exist in our universe, but the chances of an inhabitable planet with intelligent life being anywhere within traveling distance is impossible. There is other intelligent life, but we're never going to meet them unless one of us finds a way to make wormholes. If you do the calculations, you'd see what I am talking about.
Faster than light travel can also be done using warp.
Matter cannot travel faster than light.
Any time-travel propositions besides wormholes are stupid, ship time could be a matter of weeks, and when they arrive at their destination it will be years later.
You're giving baseless words, not solutions. I can pick up and egg and call it a space time velocity damper. but we all know it's pure fiction.
Meh, you can simulate gravity by rotating the quarters which the crew lives, dunno if it will have the benefits of actual gravity.
