actually, there are plans for a moonbase
I know there are plans. There have probably been plans since we set foot on the moon.
The question is when.

Only Aliens reaching here will be more civilized than us :p
I, for one, welcome our new intergalatic overlords. Praised be Xenu.

obviously

You're not funny
Because any credible astrophysicist would tell you how interstellar travel is practically impossible, and unless some bloody fundamental things that we've already got hammered down well change dramatically, then interstellar travel simply won't exist. Ever.
We base that on the general THEORY of relativity, there could still be made a new theory which would disprove it. Never say never
around 2020-2030
Lame. We need a private contractor to start it this year. If it's being built, I wouldn't mind waiting a decade for its completion.
I believe there is other life forms, but who says it isn't all insects & fungi?

You don't understand the word theory in the scientific context.
we're obviously not alone, what are the chances of only one planet out of the billions of planets out there having life. I'm fairly sure life didn't start on earth and the life came to earth first. We probably aren't being visited by these aliens however
the likelihood of being visited by aliens is slim to none while the possibility of aliens existing is almost certain
a really really depressing thought is acknowledging that we may be the most advanced race in the universe
we're still blowing each other to bits
Intergalactic travel is impossible.
Star systems is possible but not very feasible. At the speed of light it would still take a goddamn long time to get anywhere.

Good sir, you have earned yourself a smiley face.
Doesn't NASA already have plans for building some stuff on the moon?

Yes, as I have stated earlier in this thread.

Wormholes to the rescue :p

hypothetical physics
Hey, listen to this loopy old 79 year old! He's more credible because he went on a space mission and most certainly can't be lying/demented!
hypothetical physics
Never heard of that. I have heard of theoretical physics, though.
Wrong. None have been 'discovered' with earth like conditions.
uh, we haven't exactly been looking for all that long
Oh course Aliens are real
havn't you ever played Half Life?
Never heard of that. I have heard of theoretical physics, though.
I don't think it's an actual term, I was just stating that the physics he is talking about are hypothetical.
It is highly probable to the point of near certainty that there are sapient aliens in the universe, but it's equally probable that they wouldn't be able to get here easily.
uh, we haven't exactly been looking for all that long
Didn't we launch the telescope for that into space within the last year?
I think it's pretty obvious that somewhere in the universe other lifeforms exist, the problem is that the Universe is fucking humongous and the chances of us coming into contact with another species from space is pretty unlikely.
Even if they could travel faster than the speed of light the chances that they will visit our planet are pretty slim when you consider how many planets there are in our galaxy then you realise how many galaxies are estimated to exist.
I definitely believe in aliens I just don't believe we will come into contact with any unless it's a freak accident.
Just in case anyone was wondering my stand on this, I do believe that there is a high probability that aliens exist elsewhere in the universe, but I also believe they haven't been visiting us.
Sending us electromagnetic signals is a lot more efficient than sending mass no matter what.
Dark matter doesn't need to be invented to exist. All you need is gravitational pull where there should be none.
Using the word "should" shows that you think our theories are perfect.
A good theory must be able to predict everything. With dark matter , we don't predict , we just observe and assume there is something we can't explain.
I am not so sure that highly inteligent aliens would be interested in in humans.
And i think aliens have never been here.

I guess it works. It just sounds funny.
Think about it. There are about 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe, each one having millions to trillions of stars and each of those stars having a chance to have planets, some may be in the habitable zone.
