Dachi, stop spouting your Spacebuild Pseudo-Knowledge and contribute to the thread in a way that displays no flaming.
I wonder if this is just a "Believe the Hype" situation.
Sorry?
Did you just quote Michael Crichton in an argument about science?
As long as we don't pull a "The Day The Earth Stood Still" we're good
Did you just quote Michael Crichton in an argument about science?
What he said isn't invalidated by the fact that he said it.
intelligent life =/= aliens visiting earth on FTL flying saucers anally probing millions. Which that article basically suggested.
If aliens aren't real, then would who's been violently anal probing me? :tinfoil:
Yeah, im sure there's some sort of other life other than us, considering how big the universe is. If there are, well great. If there isn't, well, thats just dandy too. I don't get why people get so worked up over the issue.
Also, some of you people on here are pretty narrow-minded, and that isn't a good thing.
Because any credible astrophysicist would tell you how interstellar travel is practically impossible, and unless some bloody fundamental things that we've already got hammered down well change dramatically, then interstellar travel simply won't exist. Ever.
A weak point, but what about that Supermassive Black Hole astrophysicists' say is impossible according to our current theories. And that super huge star cluster producing massive amounts of energy - they also say that is theoretically impossible.
EDIT: (I meant my point could possibly be weak)
Stop putting in "movie" references. Only if it has something to do with grays, the only real "possible" aliens.
Wasn't Signs a true story? Though nothing is said on wikipeda. So forget it.

guys i see a lvl 73 troll, maybe if we backtrack we can put on our cloaks of +5 sneak and get around it
In case you're serious, Signs was most definitely not a true story. And there are no limitations on what the only "possible" extraterrestrial aliens could be, since we have no evidence of any type of alien to assign a limitation to.
Too bad, I don't play WOW. Oh did I mention the part "forget it ". That's where you ignore the post.
Now where were we?
Not much evidence for this astronaut. What a idiot. So please be realistic with your posts instead "omg Stars Wars reference" post related.
Some mathematical theories require higher dimensions and a sort of multi-verse.
Are those mathematical theories proven?
(Rhetorical question, by the way.)
Hi aliens if you are reading!
HEY GUYS.
If the plot of that show turned out to be real, fuck yes
You'd have to be pretty fucking stupid to think that true interstellar travelling space aliens actually have a credible chance of existing, let alone visiting earth.
Let us see, There are infinite possibilities out there and an infinite amount of everything happening.
There is interstellar travel, but who knows it may be WAY out there. It has to have happened due to the fact that something infinite has infinite possibilities and EVERYTHING happens an infinite amount of times. Although I don't agree that they visit our Earth, and if they do they would probably have little to no interest in it due to the fact they havn't made themselves known.
You would have to be pretty fucking stupid to think that interstellar traveling space aliens don't have a credible chance of existing.
What about that one ho? "The aliens will arrive on earth on wednesday"
oops, my bad, was misinformed gaiz.
Oh boy. Now I feel like I'm going to get abducted in the middle of the night.
(also the fact that even travelling at a fraction of the speed of light will turn any human being into a pink paste on a bulkhead)
There might be a few ways around this dilemma. Extending a small funnel of spacetime across vast distances would be able to solve the warp-flight problem without achieving FTL, or if the ship actually DOES achieve FTL without disintegration, it'd have some kind of inertia nullification field, stopping the interior from suffering turbulence from breakneck turns. The UFOs we all see zipping off at impossible speeds and lethal bankings probably have this form of Inertia Nullifier.
But back on topic, I do hope we get some disclosure of intel soon. The more intel, the better.
I'll believe it when I see it

LOL, you call Drake's equation a proof? It's a widely criticized equation mostly based on probability and what you belive yourself.

He seems to be the only one posting intelligent posts.
The fact an actual astronaut is saying this makes it somewhat interesting.

he's an idiot and this not his first time talking about these things. Just because he is an astronaut doesn't give him an authority at all when it comes to aliens or flying saucers. He also doesn't seem to have any evidence for his claims, either.
Funny and arrogant that most people think they understand the universe. There is variables that we have not even begun to comprehend that can change are lives and how we know the universe forever. All we can do right now is make educated guesses based on what data is available.
As for aliens that government will cover them up if they do exist. If people found out about them when they are not ready it can create entire riots due to the fact that most religons would be proven false. At least people now can still fool them selves into thinking religion is true.
the universe is mostly empty space dude.
it's not like a sci fi novel with huge expanses of plasma-ion storms and gamma-radiation fields that stretch for hundreds of lightyears
Fifteen percent of humanity has been anal probed.
Oh wow, pretty interesting stuff.
I hope I live to see this information disclosed.
Ever heard of zero point energy?
If we can ever can ever create a better power source, we'll be very very close long distance space travel. And we're not very far away from that either.
Well, we have to make an engine that works. You can have all the energy in the world, you're still not going to get past a certain amount of speed. Face it, the only way we can have effective space travel, is by inventing a new engine. Like Hyperspace, if anyone here watches sci-fi.
I'm pretty sure by "Aliens" they mean "Some other form of life".
For all we could know, they could be little insects. It doesn't neccesarily mean super high technology humanoids.
