The cup is sitting on the edge of the plate, it's going to fucking fall over and spill
I don't get the point of this, it should at least have the number of servings written on it for the people who try to care
If you could think in 3D you would understand that the bottom of a cup is smaller than the top, which is wider. So it is not sitting on the edge of the plate, but merely the top of the cup is wide enough that it covers a portion of the plate.
Typical american attitude. PEOPLE ARE OBESE?! IT MUST BE DUE TO POOR EDUCATION!
It's actually a big part - what do people see more of in media in the US? Advice for eating properly, or advertisements for junk food? There's also the issue of mainstream foods being saturated with salt and sugar, it's teaching children from a young age that unless a food is overwhelming to your sense of taste it's bland and boring.
Typical american attitude. PEOPLE ARE OBESE?! IT MUST BE DUE TO POOR EDUCATION!
But it actually is?
At least that's what I was taught at school.

Weird, I don't remember a pyramid, I do remember a pie chart with all the food types around and water in the center.
That's because the norm in North America is 3 meals, while in Europe they eat more meals but with less food.
Fewer large meals leads to overeating
I don't know anyone who eats more than 3 meals. I've never been to a place where the norm is to eat more than 3 meals.

these will always be the best nutritional guidelines in my book.
[editline]3rd June 2011[/editline]
also note that the nutritional guidelines for our citizens are created by the usda, which is overflowing with lobbyists from the dairy, meat, and bread industries, rather than being developed by the department of health and human services...
