If that's what you want, Ford, you better release a $25,000 all electric car right the fuck now. If the current trend of 'These things cost more than most people make in an entire year' continues with you lot it's gonna be closer to 25-30 years simply because nobody can afford the fucking things. That, more than anything else, is why I've never seen a Tesla in person. .
Blame the Lobbyists for killing the market size of Tesla, so Gas/ Other Car companies have a good Market for Gasoline Cars.
If they ban non electric vehicles then people will be forced to adapt
I don't think a ban on ICE vehicle is realistic at any point in the foreseeable future. Barring massive technological leaps, such engines will have their place for a long time to come. We may potentially see limits on the production of certain types of quantities of new ICE vehicles, however.
They will be terrible for police work, though. Battery life still just isn't there and the LAST thing you want is the officer responding to your home invasion call running out of juice halfway there. They need the ability to refresh every inch of vehicle range within just a couple of minutes two or three times a day in order to do their job effectively, if they cannot do this, police departments will not buy them because it will get people killed. And raped. And robbed.
Gas tanks run out too... [editline]3rd January 2017[/editline] Also hybrids like the Chevy Volt have a gasoline fueled generator that can generate electricity to continue powering the car if the battery dies unexpectedly or unavoidably.
It won't happen. There is no point. ICE's aren't inherently dangerous to the public and as the market shifts to electrics, fuel use and emissions will drop naturally.
they won't ban ICEs ever in the US, and the countries trying to do so are probably being way too optimistic
they won't ban ICEs ever in the US, and the countries trying to do so are probably being way too optimistic
We should probably ban new diesel ICEs at some point though. Those things put out some pretty bad stuff.

Mixing up my Ford threads.
Hybrid F-150? I can only get so erect! It's gobsmacking that automakers haven't tried to seize an opportunity with hybrid pickups, fleets would kill for the extra mpg and savings they offer and if they offered plug in range extended hybrids that can be covered under the federal tax credit that would give incentive to individuals to trade in, upgrade or replace their aging pick ups.
The one question I have with widespread adoption of electric vehicles, is what happens to fuel prices? Basic economics would indicate that reduced demand would make prices crash, but given the circumstances of production I have to wonder without scale would the prices crash upwards instead.

I didn't expect a statement like this from Ford, but I love it
the interesting question will be that when they push to gut fuel standards which they will do under trump, will ford actually follow up and make these trucks or will they make a few and call it a day
