A stabbing Tuesday night in downtown Olympia may have been racially motivated, according to the Olympia Police Department.

Daniel B. Rowe, 32, was arrested near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Adams Street and booked into the Thurston County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon. In Thurston County Superior Court Wednesday, Judge James Dixon found probable cause for three charges: two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of malicious harassment. He set bail at $500,000.

The male stabbing victim, a 47-year-old man, sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to police. A 35-year-old female victim was grazed by the suspect’s knife.

Upon his arrest, Rowe allegedly told police that he had gone downtown after hearing aboutanti-police graffiti that had been put up Sunday night, according to court documents. He reportedly told police that if he were let go, he would head to a Donald Trump rally and stomp out more of the Black Lives Matter group.

Police responded to downtown Olympia on Tuesday night after receiving reports that a black man had been stabbed, and a white man — later identified as Rowe — was unconscious. Based on the Rowe’s white supremacist tattoos — reading “skinhead,” “white power” and “hooligan,” and featuring a Confederate flag — officers believed the altercation may have been racially motivated.
I find it strange that the officers are saying they 'believe' it's racially motivated. Seems pretty cut and dry racist attack to me, unless there are details they're not telling us.
I'm very afraid we might see more attacks like this come November. Those racist and giddy assholes across America have been hyped up by Trump and he's specifically courted them with his statements. They're gonna believe his bullshit that the election was somehow 'rigged' when Clinton wins. I think that will lead to violence but I hope to the heavens above it doesn't and that the relevant authorities have a plan in place.

When you're dealing with presenting facts you can't make assumptions, no matter how probable. That's why they say "we believe it was racially motivated" rather than "it was racially motivated" on the off chance that the motive might be something entirely different.
not surprised he came from east of the Cascades.

I mean if you wanted to cement the facts that 1: it's directed pretty hard toward a group of people relatively within a racial subset or otherwise acting in direct favor thereof, and 2: you'll be a direct threat to human lives if you're not kept in jail, :goodjob:
Guess they're not gonna wait for Trump to lose.

Well, gee; I'm just not sure!
the only reason I could see a white supremacist moving to Oly would be to cause trouble
