Wait, Starcraft II's an RTS? :psyduck:
Nope. It's a third person shooter.
Nope. It's a third person shooter.
It's both RTS and thirdperson shooter(at least one of the DEVs video showed that you can play thirdperson in editor).
well with all the money they get a month off WoW this don't surprise me, blizzard likes to make their games top notch
It's both RTS and thirdperson shooter(at least one of the DEVs video showed that you can play thirdperson in editor).
Total mind-fuckery. This is from last year. They even made a Nova model for it.
I hope Kotick won't fuck over this game.
That trailer looks relitively low budget considering the games overall budget.

I fail to see how it could have required this much money. I can understand for a game like GTAIV.
Total mind-fuckery. This is from last year. They even made a Nova model for it.
holy shit the things that can be done with this game
It's just that I'm surprised by the "depth" of the trailer :psyduck:
i hate how they changed the theme of the game from gritty backwater southern usa to fucking anime
i hate how they changed the theme of the game from gritty backwater southern usa to fucking anime
They did? I don't see it anywhere, it's still extremely well-animated realistic-looking high-quality videos, not some anime bullshit.
I've never been too big on Blizzard's games but holy shit, I want this game.
The music they used in the video sounds so similar to AVATAR's trailer music. skip to 1:13 compare that to this skip to 1:48
They did? I don't see it anywhere, it's still extremely well-animated realistic-looking high-quality videos, not some anime bullshit.
He's kinda right though.
The music they used in the video sounds so similar to AVATAR's trailer music.
That's probably because it is the same music, a lot of video games get a license for the music for there trailers like Mass Effect 2.
How the fuck could it possibly cost 100 million to make? They fucking got the community to beta test it for free, and there's nothing overly spectacular in terms of graphics. Stories are easy to make.
^ completely oblivious to product development costs.
I could retire off that money... at least 50 times! Still can't wait to play.
The game is projected to sell 4 million copies in the first few months http://www.techspot.com/news/35643-starcraft-ii-predicted-to-sell-4-million-copies-after-launch.html $60 * 4 million = 240 million dollars in sales from the regular version (add more for collectors edition $100 version) So within the first couple months theyll have more than doubled what they spent to make the game. The first starcraft game sold over 11 million copies since release, so yeah, blizzard's going to be making some serious cash for this. (not to mention the 2 future expansions for zerg and protoss)
a team of people (god knows how many people are on the SC2 team) that require an hourly wage to live their lives isn't cheap.
Not to mention it's unclear just how long they have been working on it. For all we know they could have been working on it right after the Brood Wars. I know they didn't start that early but still. A few years of paying dozens of programmers and dozens more voice actors, some of which were hard to get back in the first place. I'm surprised it wasn't more. [editline]11:35AM[/editline]
I just hope this doesn't go to their heads they start pumping out shit (Looking at you CoD) instead of quality games.
Will never happen, unless you look at WoW. Seriously, they are pumping out useless expansions.
You do have to keep in mind taxes which are 15-20% (atleast in Western Europe) and that retailers keep a fair share of the money the game sells for.
Yeah , true, but they're also releasing WOW cataclysm this year.. that'll sell several million copies probably within the first week as well, plus WOW sub fees, it just goes to show you what kind of money blizzard is bringing in that 100 million to develop a game is not really a lot for them.
Nope, and speaking of jobs, if you want one, you might wanna try out different sized letters, commas, apostrophes and dots. :eng101:
guess what it doesn't fucking matter grow up
While I'm sure it's going to be an awesome game and all, money doesn't necessarily equal quality. As stated earlier, look at GTAIV. It was $100 million and it had one of the worst storylines I can remember.
As stated earlier, look at GTAIV. It was $100 million and it had one of the worst storylines I can remember.
Blizzard > Rockstar Games :smug:
The bigger the project, the more people you include in the development and the more time the development goes, the more effort (which means manhours of work (money)) gets lost in the gaps in design, deadlocks and internal costs of the team. The cooperation also gets slower as more and more people work on one thing. Because of this, the cost isn't directly proportional to all of the work on the game, but grow much faster.
Will never happen, unless you look at WoW. Seriously, they are pumping out useless expansions.
I disagree. Each of the WOW expansions has added lots of new content which is the whole purpose of an expansion. Without new content people will get bored and quit and WoW will die off.
