A true hero
One day without internet sounds kinda lame, but for a reporter it could be significant.
I could survive a week max, it gets awfully boring when I realize "fuck, there's nothing to do outside"
I find it funny and sad how addicted people are to today's tech
I could survive a week max, it gets awfully boring when I realize "fuck, there's nothing to do outside"
I imagine I could entertain myself for about two weeks without internet, but with the way my life is right now I would get bored and lonely pretty fast after that.
He should move to Australia He'd neck himself in three days tops.
last time I couldn't be on internet for a day I killed myself two times true story
Going for a few days without internet isn't troublesome at all if you actually have things to occupy you. Went camping for three days last year, was absolutely awesome and I wish I could have stayed for longer.
No internet for a few days might be boring if you just sit at home but if you are out doing things then who cares. I won't even notice that I have not been on the computer for several days. Even more so when you are on vacation or something.
To be honest I kinda wish to be forced to live without internet for a month or more. I would just like to see if the internet really is the cause of my problems. But while the internet is indeed addictive it's not bad as long as you can moderate yourself which can be hard. I would finally stop wasting my time with tf2 and checking image boards and start working on my massive movie, anime, video game and book backlog. I would also try to get out more. But sometimes you just need the internet. If you want to order something online, or quickly check something on wikipedia, or see people discussing a current topic or do some research. Its possible without internet but its much more time consuming.
I think I'd last two to three weeks. Going on my bike is way too much fun.
I often think about this. If I didn't have the internet readily available I'd probably be a much better person. Walking up to a friends house instead of messaging him on steam may not make a difference at first, but the general increase in exercise would surely add up. Walking to the store to buy a magazine instead of searching for things, going to a shop to do shopping instead of using Amazon. It's be more costly, but probably a healthier experience.
the british people should salute this brave, brave man and his courageous efforts to find out what many of us do not know rest in peas
no internet for one day. he must be very brave to do this.
He wasn't doing it to show how big his dick is and to show he's brave. He did it to see how it felt. Part of society is we are constantly wired to the net, it's an interesting experiment to see what we do without it. What he discovered is we rely on it far more than he anticipated and without it we can be more productive. I feel like doing it myself. I find myself very often thinking "Oh better do that paper" or "Might goto sleep early tonight" and hours later finding myself sitting up on the net browsing at nothing important. The amount of times my mum says "What you doing?" and my reply is "nothing". I shall try it myself, might finally get some shit done. There's plenty of other stuff you can do indoors that doesn't involve a computer. Hobbies? Maybe you should try it if you honestly don't think you survive more than a week.
I had no internet for a about a month and a half, I ended up just going to fast food places that had free WiFi after the second week. Is that bad?
My grandmother is going on 74 and she has never used a computer/tablet/interphonesmartshit in her life. She's one of the happiest people I know. This guy is a total pussy.
every year I go about 2 weeks solid without it.
I don't think it'd be that bad, I can occupy myself if necessary, I've got tons of books to reread, an instrument to play, a whole countryside to explore.
I do this for 2 months every time I go on vacation with my parents, I just read books, swim and other stuff, don't really miss it much, sure I miss it a bit but I'd be fine if it suddenly disappeared.
When I lived with my parents, our internet-connection broke down multiple times, and we were without internet for up to 6 weeks at a time. Fucking ISP sucked ass, the device that handled our connections physically broke and they only actually checked it after we FORCED one of their technicians to visit us and see that it's not our fault. He called them and said, and I quote "Alright, the fault isn't here. Check the machine-slot. No, check it really. GO CHECK IT! Oh, it's broken? Really? I wonder how long it's been like that?" We called them like 10 times before that and every time they just replied "No, it's not at our end. We can ping you just fine. Reset the modem, yadda yadda" Pretty much all the ISP's in Finland are STILL like that.
I once went a week without internet, then again I was sailing to the bahamas.
