I hate it when foreign countries go "IT IS A GLORIOUS DAY, WE HAVE VANQUISHED THE AGGRESSIVE MILITANT WEST'S ATTEMPTS TO OVERTHROW OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY" when they capture a ship or a few dudes.
Hasn't Iran's government been overthrown twice before in the past, with the CIA having a direct hand in the dealings?
Hasn't Iran's government been overthrown twice before in the past, with the CIA having a direct hand in the dealings?
In 1953: The U.S. overthrew Prime Minister Mohammed Mosaddeq of Iran. installed Shah as dictator. Then the people overthrew the Shah In the Iranian Revolution, pissing off the U.S, mostly because they got rid of the Pro-West Shah, losing them a strategic location against the Soviet Union, and the largest, most powerful country in the oil-rich Persian Gulf.
Hasn't Iran's government been overthrown twice before in the past, with the CIA having a direct hand in the dealings?
Reza Pahlavi overthrow the Qajar dynasty with help from the British in the early 20s, Iran was invaded by the USSR and Britain in WW2 and the Reza was forced to give the throne to his son, then there was a popular prime minister who was overthrown by Anglo-American forces for oil and the son headed up an autocratic regime for the next few decades, and in '79 the Islamic Republic was formed. The US then assisted Iraq in an eight year war against Iran. [editline]26th November 2011[/editline] So there's certainly quite a bit of bad blood between Iranian citizens who suffered under the Shah and the West

What I find interesting is how the media didn’t title or even label this as a terror plot. Even with shaky links, the media was quick to label some used car salesman trying to assassinate the Saudi ambassador as an “Iranian terror plot” e.g “U.S. disrupts Iran terror plot” Spies that assassinate nuclear scientists should be labeled as terrorists, not spies. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1552784/Bush-sanctions-black-ops-against-Iran.html [release]However, the CIA is giving arms-length support, supplying money and weapons, to an Iranian militant group, Jundullah, which has conducted raids into Iran from bases in Pakistan.[/release] They’re arming an Islamist Sunni terrorist organization that has attacked civilians and is trying to overthrow Iran. And don’t get your hopes up with the regime overthrowing, if they do succeed, the new regime won’t be any better, they’ll still be headed by Islamist radicals. The only difference is they’d be firmly under U.S. control.
Fucking US...
Oh no, the US is using its intelligence arm just like every other country in the world! What a horrible country.
Given Iran's past reputation for capturing "spies," I can't help but be almost entirely skeptical of this.
Oh no, the US is using its intelligence arm just like every other country in the world! What a horrible country.
Well when Russia does it it's alright.
Spying is like masturbation. Everyone does it, everyone knows everyone does it. But nobody wants to be caught doing it.
Good on them, spies are for pussy governments
So.... all of them?
Good, they had no right to be there fuck off US
