Depends entirely where in the orbit Mars is in relation to Earth though. Right now, the delay between us telling it to do something and us being able to see anything change is about 38 and a half minute, so it's not a massive delay. If this was found now and the image was taken on the 30th of January, it's probably driven on, so they might not want to go back and look at it, as that would be a massive detour from the planned mission.

If it drove past it on the 30th, it's probably a quite far away now, they would lose many days going back to look at it. (Doesn't mean they won't, but they have to discuss it first, then actually go there).
