Yeah that's my point, and yeah they have cameras for displays, but stuff like attack helicopters and planes actually have dedicated cameras as far as I know.
I hadn't thought of it like that. I guess leaking government secrets is taken a lot more seriously than the bulk of Wikileaks leaks (Business / Private individuals info). Although I don't think the US government would do anything (directly) 'illegal' to Wikileaks or its founders. Surely it has its image of being a reasonable country that deals with things properly to uphold.
Yeah luckily he is a public figure. Though I'm not entirely certain that makes him completely safe. [editline]09:44AM[/editline]
Yeah that's my point, and yeah they have cameras for displays, but stuff like attack helicopters and planes actually have dedicated cameras as far as I know.
The AH-1 and the AH-64, the two primary gunship helicopters for the US, have gun cameras for the purposes of targeting. The feed you see is the one heading into the helmet mounted display. The gun turret can be slaved to the gunner's helmet so that he can manipulate it using his head's direction. The system simply records the footage. I'm not sure of fixed wing strike aircraft. I think they may have a similar principle where the system simply records the data the aircraft is pulling in, including cameras. So missile mounted cameras and cameras used for targeting may be recorded. That is largely conjecture on my part though.
Yeah that's what I mean, they keep the data, I suppose "dedicated cameras" was a shit term to use :v: But still you'd think only the higher ups would get to review the footage and then have it permanently erased afterwards.

I hate that word. I always spell it wrong the first time I write it.

That means after landing, the crew of both helicopters (they operate in pairs) + the flight's commanding officers + the ground crew watch hours of footage. This is normally to determine how things could have been done better (communication, targeting, range finding, shooting) but, in the current conflict in Afghanistan, are also used to make damn sure that every target engaged was legitimate. These cameras aren't just there for some team of brass to look over back in London/Washington/wherever.

Imagine going to work, getting home, and then watching a video of you at work.
Although the stuff being Leaked is technically intelligence, it isn't the kind of thing the CIA would make someone disapear over. There isn't anything vital or even of use to other organisations, it's just footage. Sure they might be able to determine the capabilities of the helicopter used or just use it as propaganda, but it's not particularly important.
Yeah, that's pretty messed up what the military is doing... But the Taliban has done the same, if not more, and they're not going to stop fighting simply because we stop fighting. I don't care what they say.
Yay bureaucracy! I hate that word. I always spell it wrong the first time I write it.
The spelling is so counter-intuitive.
Is the video out yet?
Guys Im pretty sure that every government has footage just like this, you just don't know about it. Im sick that most of you are all like hurr USA just wants to murder people?!?! For sure the British have footage just like this and many other countries alike.
And if Wikileaks gets it they will post it.
Yes, but i know its sick the video and shit, but im saying don't think your perfect little government doesn't do shit like this.
Cool more attempts to shit smear the Military. MILITARY IS EVIL GUIS
Yes, but i know its sick the video and shit, but im saying don't think your perfect little government doesn't do shit like this.
Has anyone actually said that in this thread [editline]09:27AM[/editline]
Cool more attempts to shit smear the Military. MILITARY IS EVIL GUIS
I agree let's never tell the public about the horrible things their tax dollars are going towards
Has anyone actually said that in this thread
If you read the comments in the other old wikileak thread, and most are pointing in that direction.
Yeah cause everything the military does is horrible. I hate mega liberal BS like wikileaks. And I hate the fucking "tax dollars" argument. There isn't a single person that agrees with everything that their taxes go to the taxes are meant to try and accommodate everyone as best they can.
If you read the comments in the other old wikileak thread, and most are pointing in that direction.
No not really.
Yeah cause everything the military does is horrible. I hate mega liberal BS like wikileaks. And I hate the fucking "tax dollars" argument. No one said everything the military does is horrible.
Yeah cause everything the military does is horrible.
I never said that Mr. O'Reilly
I hate mega liberal BS like wikileaks.
"mega liberal BS" because they report the facts? What?
And I hate the fucking "tax dollars" argument. With the exception of where military spending is going.
It's the stupid soldiers, not the government. Some redneck goes "This here'll be a great picture show back at the homestead!" as he plows down iraqis in his humvee, and it spreads from there, occasionally spreading from soldier to soldier until it gets into the hands of someone who leaks it. At least, that's how I envision how it happens.
The Apache's FLIR cam is always recorded just in case you thought that incident should be included under stupidity of soldiers.

There was that video of the Brits beating up the Iraqi kids. Of course US isn't the only ones doing it. Although I'd love for you to point me to the posts that single out US as being the only ones who murder innocent civilians.
I never said that Mr. O'Reilly 1."mega liberal BS" because they report the facts? What? 2.Budget is transparent, for the most part. People die daily, civilians die daily, in any conflict, and in any war civilians die. Most of the time it is unintentional collateral damage. US soldiers don't go out in death squads looking for people to kill. 2. They don't specifically designate spending to the "killing civilians drive"

You can download the torrent and skip the commentary (if applicable) altogether. And while I agree that collateral damage is a part of war, the public deserves to know about it.
The spelling is so counter-intuitive.
Maybe even, dare I say it... Bureaucratic!!!
Commentary? The only commentary there was, was the intro, explaining the court case Reuters had and subtitles.
Text commentary. One thing that always stood out to me was them zooming in on practically a pair of pixels and putting " INNOCENT CHILDREN IN VAN " Yeah cause I can really tell from those 2 pixels up in a moving helicopter that those are kids. They try to demonize the military.
Yeah cause I can really tell from those 2 pixels up in a helicopter that those are kids.
Don't pull the trigger if your gun is pointed at something you're unable to identify

And just because your enemy does, you do not have the right to ink as low as they do.

When it comes to committing crimes in war, the U.S is sure on top, with the Brits on a second place, if I remember correcty. While they don't murder than many civilians, they tend, or used to, rape, beat etc.
So when will this video be released?
