Arbiter was always my favorite character, i never even beat halo 3 on single player because the only way to play as him was to co-op.
besides, it will be nice to go back to a more sci-fi feeling character, in a more sci-fi feeling setting, and take a break from the whole "call of halo: angular space marine warfare" aesthetic the newer games seem to have.
I have hope since they called in a completely new creative director at 343 for Halo 5. I never fucking thought the day would come where that old ass parody video from around the time of Halo 2 about Halo 5, and 6; coming true
If I hear anything about Palmer being a secondary character like the Arbiter or anything more than what she was in Halo 4, I'm done. Tired of 343's attempts to shoehorn her in when they have plenty of better candidates for the role like Kelly and Linda, who we've never even fucking seen on screen except for promo videos.

The new sleek anime-mech armor would have made a little more sense had they not gone back on the partial covenant-human truce stuff, the new designs being some mjolnir-elite power Armour hybrid would have softened the blow of how glaringly "off" it looks.

It looks more Dead Space than Halo to me.
I can optimistically hope this game is good, but I'm not holding out on it. In contrast with most people, I didn't think Halo 4 was awful, but it lost my interest pretty quickly. I still had fun beating Legendary campaign with my friend who's played the campaigns with me since Halo 1 but after I think a month of multi it just lost all of it's value, probably because the lack of a decent rank system (4s was SHIT) and the god awful custom games/mapmaking.

I'd fine with with Spartan 4s being like that if their armour made sense, fit in and they weren't all badcharacters. If they were all similar to Johnson it would be awesome, but the ones in Halo 4 are highly unprofessional and stupid, they don't act like Spartans at all (or even something like ODSTs).

Its most likely referring to the random placeholder Bungie used in Halo. If a player in multiplayer ever died and their death couldn't be attributed to anyone (mines in Sandtrap, someone firing a rocket and quitting before it kills its target, etc) it would be given to "The Guardians".
It looks like 343i is going to make something of that. Which I dont agree with.

I know the Halo games are supposed to be a "bad guy rooty shooty" game but why do they insist on putting these anime stories in to supplement the already existing lore - it was fine as it was.

They literally shoehorned a Halo into Halo 4 so they could call it Halo 4. You fly by one to this space station that has this huge artifact that was super hard to move so instead of building a research station around it on the ring they decided to waste a ton of resources by putting it on an asteroid.
