I use Windows 7 for my home PC and freebsd on my servers.
why would you be opening .doc files on your servers anyway, we're not talking about server OSes you'd have to be literally retarded to voluntarily use a windows server OS
why would you be opening .doc files on your servers anyway, we're not talking about server OSes you'd have to be literally retarded to voluntarily use a windows server OS
They were arguing about OS's and I laid them a smacking by the freebsd master race. To be honest, I think its a absolutely brilliant OS. System file/folder management especially.
Sucks for them I have no software that can open .DOC :D

I love how this thread turned from "be careful" to "my OS is better than yours" bullshit.
I love how this thread turned from "be careful" to "my OS is better than yours" bullshit.
I never heard of this exploit before today. It must not be serious. Lets talk about how big my e-penis is based on my OS!
Why are .doc files even allowed to hook that deeply into Windows If a document tries to do something a document shouldn't be doing, why can't Windows just say "lol nope" and block it?
This is Microsoft we're talking about. Adobe does the same crap with PDF files. [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline]
freebsd master race.
Screw FreeBSD, I'm running OpenBSD. Hasn't had a vulnerability in the base install for 10 years.

Still, the fuck are you doing opening unchecked DOC files serverside? Shouldn't you be reading them from your end of the remote desktop session?
Why. FreeBSD, Debian or Gentoo.
Don't trust Linux for mission critical deployment. It's under development far too much maintain reliable private repositories and the open coding pool permits too many bugs and overpredicted obsolescence junctions into the system. I find it better suited for lab use where a configuration will normally only run for a few months before changing and would better benefit from the active rotation of Linux kernel updates.
Can this get past the "This document came from another computer and is blocked" dialog?
