Home defense is first priority, Lotusking, especially when your home is the cold, barren desert environment of Mars. A .45 hollow point should stop any would be Martian invader.
Can't help but wonder why they didn't use an excisting camera and modded that. Any hour spent on making a custom camera must be super expensive.
They used existing technology and modified it to survive massive radioactive sandstorms, the vaccum of space, and various other things that takes time, the stuff they were using was cutting edge and probably experimental when they started work on making it mars-proof.
It's not lost. They know exactly where it is, it's just that it got stuck and was unable to move, and thus was unable to prepare itself for a Martian winter and died permanently. They spent several months trying to unstuck it.
I wonder when we'll have the first human on the mars.
Of course here on Facepunch we'd argue about why it has so little memory.
Who cares about how much memory it has. It takes pictures, it sends pictures to earth, it deletes pictures. It isn't stashing Martian Porn
To bad we won't inhabit the Moon or Mars in our lifetime :(
To bad we won't inhabit the Moon or Mars in our lifetime :(
We don't know that. With the beginning of private spaceflight, loads of things might happen in 15-30 years.
To bad we won't inhabit the Moon or Mars in our lifetime :(
Then we will be the shoulders for the next generation to stand on, in the same way that older generations did for us
