does someone know if any news broadcast has been archived? I tried searching around on some dutch news pages, but they fail to load the archives although they do show pictures of 9/11 (without me even putting anything in a search bar, probably because they decided to start storing news afterwards, thus making it the first articles stored)

It's news reel footage from lots of different news channels during 9/11 and the week after, which you can flick between, almost as if you were watching it live on tv.
oh thank you!
EDIT: is there a way to have the 30-second segments to auto-play? It's really annoying have to choose one at a time.
I was 14 or 15 when it happened. It was already a pretty confusing time of my life. My dad was supposed to be on that plane. I got sent home from school because of that. It turned out, he switched his program at work and was not on that flight. Many of his co-workers were killed. Reading this thread was scary and made me a little anxious.

Sad.
It makes me sad that Facepunch will likely never make anything newsworthy beyond photoshopping subway sandwiches into hentai comics
What page did the towers fall on?
Bottom of page ten for the south tower.

Holy shit. This could only mean three things:
a) both pilots were members of anti-capitalist terrorist groups or suicidal
b) some terrorist group hax0red the planes to automatically crash into the towers
c) pilots are fucking idiots and rely on their navigation systems despite the fact that they're on collision course with a freaking skyscraper.

Oh you.

I dunno, getting Obama to say, "What is a Facepunch?" is a pretty big achievement in my opinion.

Shame that only has the BBC world version and not the version we saw on our usual channels.

Not sure, though there's also this: http://archive.org/details/sept_11_tv_archive
The videos seam to be split up into 30 minute or so chunks here rather then 30 seconds.
While the correct predictions about a coming war are surreal to see, it makes me feel even weirder to see the false reports and think how terrified people must have felt in believing that all of these things were ALSO happening:

30 minutes is no issue at all, but the 30-40 second chunks are getting very annoying when trying to watch the news as the normal folks did 12 years ago.

well facepunch didn't exist back in 2001

besides this isn't really news
Reuters is now saying 6 dead, 1000+ injured. I think this is low though. Someone phoned the top and asked what happening. Screaming was heard in the background. The man on the phone said 'We're fucking dying!' and hung up. The phone was not answered again.
Holy.

fuck man :(
Watching that "understanding 9/11 through TV archives" makes me wish there was an one hour video that recreates the minutes between 8:45 and 9:45AM on that morning.
Feel like I should also share Jon Stewart's monologue from 9/20.

If you watch the 9/10 show, it's especially harsher. Everyone's happy. There was a news report from correspondent Steve Carrell talking about sex being used to promote beer and other stuff. Jon excitedly talks about that next night's guest.
One of the things I like about facepunch over other forums like SA is that we don't have those obnoxious signatures. It's jarring to see those light-hearted signatures with 2001-era memes underneath pictures and live accounts of 9/11.

This already exists

I don't think it has signatures anymore.

but its current design still makes me want to gouge my eyes out

if only everyone got off that lucky.
God this feels like a life time ago for me. I would have been 7 or 8 then and I remember it happening, although the main reason for that was because on that day I fell ill with appendicitis and the day after I was rushed to hospital.
"BAN ALL AIRPLANES!!"
Good to see these jokes were already done 12 years ago.
Really jarring stuff. No country should have to have an experience like this.
Yeah i remember this when i was in 3rd grade and the principle came in and whispered (Us kids, were always curious to hear what they say) and we all heard, "We're under attack, the nation is under attack, the world trade centers are gone." Of course we didnt exactly know what that meant but it still scary.
Reading this, it absolutely sends chills down my spine. At the time it happened I was 4 years old and had no Idea what was going on.
Reading back on forums, of massive historic events happening, posts being made in real-time of the event. It is just mind blowing. It makes me think, will something ever happen of this magnitude ever happen again? And how would it unfold on todays modern forums.
I only just started highschool when this happened. Still remember the exact moment when mom called me down in a very shaky voice to watch the TV.

signatures are the greatest
