it [B]is[/B] just like a netbook. it uses a standard OS that a PC/ Laptop/ Netbook uses, which means there are none of the restrictions of a bespoke OS (iPads iPhone based OS), and the virtual keyboard is not a heap of steaming shit as it actually emulates a keyboard properly, meaning that, yes, it can be used to control Flash apps (which the iPad cannot even run), and still do it's job as a normal keyboard.

I've read the HP Slate is less responsive than the iPad, but even the apple haters can agree, the touch screen on the iPod touch/iPhone/iPad is pretty sweet, even if the Pad is a lump of shit
This isn't comparable with the iPad.
The iPad is a service in a box. The HP is a PC.
It's the same style of device but should be aimed at 2 different demographics. All it will do is create arguments with people saying X is better than Y.. well they're DIFFERENT. One is for consumers, one is for producers.

My only disappointment is the rumored hardware specs. I was hoping for something a little more powerful than a 1.6 GHz atom. Although, I'll have to get my hands on one before I actually consider getting one.

It looks like HP looked at the iPad and looked at what is wrong with it and people were saying it needed and cranked out something 1000x better.
lets see,
the Slate has a Camera that can take pictures and record video the iPad does not.
the Slate has a usb port(s), the iPad does not.
the Slate has an SD card reader, the iPad does not.
the Slate has FLASH, the iPad does not.
The Slate is a Computer, the iPad is a big iPhone.
Yeah HP just stepped on Apple's neck.
So yeah, this looks awesome. I don't know if I'd want it or not, but it does look pretty awesome.
I wonder if Slate will be able to emulate the Ipad, then you can sell Apps for money.
