Well, it seems that you like to define life as conscious organisms. That's a very spiritual view.
However, where would you draw the line? Do you test organisms for self-awareness? How about organisms with hearts like jellyfish (who have extensive nervous systems)?
For the purposes of science, you see, we have a set of criteria to classify something as living and something as not living because it's impossible to get into the mind of another living being (we think). Whether or not you call microorganisms life is not really important, it's the fact that the microorganisms are there that's the important part.
I know why people call it life, it is the starting blocks for what I would say real life is, I just do not see it as life in that sense, but at the same time do.
Jesus, I knew when I was 11 that there are 7 life processes, and if an organism performs them, then they are technically alive. Movement, reproduction and growth. Single celled organism can do those things, therefore they are living.
for what? stating my opinion?
step back and observe you idiot.
Doing things doesn't make something alive. By that logic, a robot would be classed as a living organism.
Sentience and Sapience are not requirements for life.
And by your logic cockroaches and emerald jewel wasps aren't alive.

no. My logic everything is alive, but not life. These little things do not have a life, why cant anyone grasp what I am saying...
They should stop calling micro organisms life. Life is... having a life, doing shit, I do not think of bacteria when I say life, I think of intelligent beings with society.
No. Maybe you should have paid attention in biology class. Bacteria is alive.
no. My logic everything is alive, but not life. These little things do not have a life, why cant anyone grasp what I am saying...
Not to be nitpicky but I'm pretty sure Florida Red Squirrels have no clue what you're conveying to us right now.

Cause you're speaking moronese and only a select few can translate it.
I'm studying biology and forensic sciences at university. Your "opinion" as you so quaintly put it, is fucking ridiculous.
name calling stop
for what? stating my opinion?
Opinions don't mean jack shit in science.
"I think this rock has magnesium in it"
"Well I think it doesn't."
"Hmm. I did a test on it earlier, I'm pretty sure it contains magnesium."
"I'M JUST STATING MY OPINION - OPINIONS CAN'T BE WRONG!"

you are all retarded if you cannot understand what I am saying, I shall say it one more time very clearly just for you special guy :)
things can be alive yes, but define life, you would say life is growing, and reproducing and I agree, but these things do not have a life. understand? geez

Wait what? What the fuck is "Irritability"? I was always taught "MRS GREN"
Movement
Repiration
Sensitivity (can sense the world around it)
Growth
Reproduction
Excretion
Nutrition (eating/consuming stuff)
anyway, latter idiots, I hope you grasp what I am saying and realise how stupid you all are being.

So you're saying that many things can be alive, but only a select few have a "life".
Are you trying to say that only intelligent creatures have a "soul" or "conscience"? I think that's what you're trying to say.

That picture on the surface have been edited. The surface isn't orange colored.
If we would stand on the surface, We would see natural light.

Irritability is just sensitivity to changes in it's environment, like Paramecium moving to a more suitable area of a pond or petri dish

OK you can be the astronaut.

I wonder if this will seriously happen in the future or we just wait for the tech to come along and get us there in less time, are they taking about doing something like this?.
Methane lakes sound pretty intense.

If we constructed an Asimov array to manufacture anti matter then we could use valkyrie rockets which reach like 95% light speed and we would be there in far fewer than 3 generations, if I remember correctly they would get us to mars in something like 4 days, so to get to Titan would probably be around (total guess here going from memory so this will be either a bit off or totally wrong) 10 years.

There have been a number of interesting developments in the field of space travel. Look up VASIMR.

Everything about this post is either wrong or unfeasible. A trip to mars at 95% light speed would only take about half an hour (it's only 3-5 light minutes away but you have to factor in acceleration/deceleration). A journey to Titan would only take a few hours.
Also, large scale manufacture of antimatter is impossible with today's technology.

Pretty sure the speed of the valkyrie was right at least :v:
No wait thats 92% light speed :v:

Actually, it would take at least an hour and two minutes to reach Saturn and at most an hour and eighteen minutes. This is only for the traveler, of course.
To us, it would seem like a considerably longer amount of time, although how long I am not sure.
And it would take a shitload of antimatter.
Not in amount, but in the amount of time it would take to manufacture just a small amount of antimatter.
