I suppose this makes Aman the bastion of rational thinking then right
actually not factually backed up at all.
I'd offer to break down just how bad the Republican party is going purely on their platform alone but it seems you already "don't like a lot of republican thinking" already so I don't understand the point of your post. Are you saying that you can dislike Republicans but only up to a certain point? And that the threshold is breached when you say the super-vague "Republicans are the goddamn worst"? Is the extent of criticism against the GOP only where KorJax the Rational says it is?
Fuck yeah Al Sharpton

I think it is more the pass that a lot of right wing bashing gets. Everything on the right is commonly referenced to as racist, sexist, insane and religious, that thinking seems to seep over and turns into attacks on conservatives in general.
It is frustrating when we have people post links to this and it gets a pass but as soon as anyone links to a right wing blog or even Fox it gets ripped apart and ridiculed.
SigmaLambdas comment was uncalled for and unfortunately in line with his usual behavior, you have seen how the trans community and the feminists here get upset when posters attack them (and rightfully so). But very few people step up to bat for conservative things and we need a balance because people end up with this being what they think a typical republican is like.
You can rip on individuals but make that clear, rather than a vague blanket statement based on ignorance.

Because the Republican party is seen as a far-right group on an international forum. The American political spectrum is so skewed that "moderates" almost always vote conservative.

When the Republican party is the champion of the right and supports racist, sexist, insane, and religiously dogmatic positions it's easy enough to mistake conservatives in general with people who support those positions. It's unfortunate.
It is also irrelevant. Sigma said nothing about conservatives, just Republicans.

I'm not going up to bat for specific sources but there is a good reason Fox News gets trashed as a responsible news outlet.

How was it uncalled for.

Balance in what? Journalism and reporting? Sure, but balance in supporting Republican causes when I don't? That's complete bullshit. I have absolutely no moral or intellectual obligation to support a party who's platform I disagree with. What a stupid thing to say.

I don't understand why I'm allowed to rip on individuals who think LGBT people don't deserve human rights, but ripping on a party who's platform is that LGBT people don't deserve human rights is off limits and unbalanced.
In 1924, President Coolidge responded to a letter that claimed the United States was a "white man's country":
"....I was amazed to receive such a letter. During the war 500,000 colored men and boys were called up under the draft, not one of whom sought to evade it. [As president, I am] one who feels a responsibility for living up to the traditions and maintaining the principles of the Republican Party. Our Constitution guarantees equal rights to all our citizens, without discrimination on account of race or color. I have taken my oath to support that Constitution..."
Its a damn shame that the Republican party was twisted into something so horrible. Now Conservative who simply believe in lower taxes end less regulation end up voting in religious and racist nuts.

This guy got it. And Raidyr, you sorta got my point. Fiscal conservatives who have a lot of LGBT and ethic members (the first transgender state representative) and we hate the social conservative "values" but grouping us all together just pushes us away on an issue we can agree on.
Perfect example is the southern strategy, the 1964 and 1965 civil rights acts had a higher percentage of republicans voting for it and about double the number of conservatives voting against them. This is always ignored when the southern strategy is brought up.
Not all republicans agree to what is put forward but a lot that is touted is some weird caricature with straw popping out of its seams based on ignorance. You never win by fighting hate and stupidity with ignorance and sweeping generalizations.
The constant attacks, especially on oppressed groups who join the republican party (Blacks being called uncle toms, people being called traitors and self haters) does nothing to help us change the party so it can drop the moronic extreme social views.
So just identify who and what you disagree with rather than broad attacks which include people you probably agree with on a lot of issues.
All this is because SigmaLambda likes to spout off and be FUNNEH~!, I like to hold him to a lower standard than everyone else here since they seem to actually form opinions based on some facts.
