Gorillas Seen Destroying and Dismantling Poachers' Snares In Rwanda

Hopefully this will help the gorillas in future. I think that once they know how things work they can come up with a solution for the problem, therefore this is a great sign.
Clever girl...
They are so damn clever. Reminded me of this video that touches the same subject.

I bet the hominids we evolved from behaved similarily way back.
These gorillas deserve a Darwin Award.
Whilst this is awesome, I really shouldn't be surprised. I mean, seriously; they're great apes, some of the smartest creatures on Earth asides from humans. Shouldn't be surprising that they're advancing technologically; when a species becomes sapient and able to create technology, memetics becomes more of a species-defining thing than genetics, and evolves over a much smaller timeframe. (memetics being the mental equivalent of genetics, based around ideas and concepts)
But if one group invented spears, or even a bow and arrow, THEN i'd be super impressed. I'm already impressed by their trap-defusing skills, but if they could craft things like weapons, fishing rods, houses, writing, etc, then i'd be absolutely amazed and awestruck.
When you say spear, do you mean spear, spear head and binding em together, or just a sharpened stick for hunting? Cause the seconds already been observed a few years ago.

To think some people consider our species the only truly intelligent one in this age is laughable now.

Darwin award is for people who helped cleanse themselves from the human gene pool and in the process did great good for the human race. What it would go for is a poacher who is killed by his own gorilla trap after it has been disturbed by a gorilla. Gorillas are incapable of being awarded Darwin award because they re not human.

Actually read up on what that is next time.
Also, this is really mindblowing. That they learn from past experiences, and learn it to their own kind really shows how impressive their ability to learn really is. Evolution in action, I guess. Just really slowly. (Like it's supposed to go )
I'd be awesome if there was some vigilante gorilla group who went and set up traps around the poachers' cars so when the poachers returned they'd get fucked.
and now I'm giggling insanely.

I mean the former, the kind with the flint head, though the latter is a good step on the branches of the Tree of Technology. Do chimps live in areas where flint is common?

Sounds like a hit graphic novel tbh.
If more humans weren't as arrogant about being the triumph of species, they might see past their nose and realize that the world around them is changing, not constant.

I realised this
does this make me not human anymore D:
Gorillas are way better then chimps anyways.
