"As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain But that's just perfect for an Amish like me You know, I shun fancy things like electricity" :v:
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. These aren't passages that justify killing in the name of god, nor do they seem to serve any purpose other than possibly being a source of courage and comfort for the more devout among the troops. There's nothing really wrong with it, though I still understand the importance of secular neutrality for any company that facilitates warfighting.
The general idea of the bible is of 'peace' and treating enemies non-violently (turn the other cheek). But they're putting quotes in a weapons scope that is used to kill people
That's because they've been lied into believing that the coalition is there to convert everyone and kill the rest, much like the Japanese back in 1945, which caused mass suicides once they became cornered.
Iraqi Insurgents aren't all radical muslims, what are you talking about? [editline]7th April 2011[/editline] They're fighting the coalition who is, y'know, absolutely fucking useless.

I'm an Atheist and I thought the passages were cool as shit myself.
I think it would be really cool if soldiers could request a certain message to be displayed on their scopes if they pay maybe an extra bit of cash from themselves. If I was religious I'd find much comfort and peace of mind from going into battle with my favorite scripture engraved or something. Or if not, I could have something of meaning put on my gun that makes it personal to me. Though the DoD would have to screen all requests to not have any obviously bad things written on the guns like "fuk paki's", and I suppose when someone returns their gun after their service is up it'll still have your custom message on it.

Department of Defense? Trijicon is a private industry.

So yeah dingbat, you're lying through your teeth or you're just ignorant and refuse to look at what the coalition is actually doing. [editline]7th April 2011[/editline]
The DoD? Department of Defense? Wait, so the passages referenced on the scopes pertain to Jesus being "the light of the world" and "never being in darkness"; isn't the ACOG designed to be a high-visibility sight under any conditions because of the fiber-optics? Every product needs a profound quote associated with its function! Edit: Well fuck, ninja'd.
they started doing it back in the day when everyone wasnt going "LOL IM COOL IM ATHEIST LEEOEOLOL"
You're ideas are bad and you should feel bad.
You're ideas are bad and you should feel bad.
from what ive seen most of facepunch is atheists, and the only atheists i know of is most of FP and my 4chanfag brother, so i see it as a "cool" thing, go ahead rate me dumb for not having the same opinions as you :frogdowns:
why does everyone get so butthurt about religion all of a sudden, who gives a shit let people do what they want with that stuff, it's not as if it says "i hate black people" on the side of it or something else that's actually offensive and controversial
why does everyone get so butthurt about religion all of a sudden, who gives a shit let people do what they want with that stuff, it's not as if it says "i hate black people" on the side of it or something else that's actually offensive and controversial
Because everyone has to utilize these scopes regardless of their beliefs; It will alienate non-Christian soldiers among other things.
It will alienate non-Christian soldiers among other things.
learn to accept others' views?
from what ive seen most of facepunch is atheists, and the only atheists i know of is most of FP and my 4chanfag brother, so i see it as a "cool" thing, go ahead rate me dumb for not having the same opinions as you :frogdowns:
No, I'll rate you dumb for generalizing and stereotyping an entire group because your brother is an atheist to be cool.
learn to accept others' views?
That are being forced upon you.
learn to accept others' views?
While I'd normally agree with a statement like this, there is really no reason why the soldiers have to accept firing guns with Christian scripture on it. At the very least, this should save money in the manufacturing process. That's how we should market this to the Republicans.
Actually the coalition have done a lot of good you nutty biased turd, the british troops are adamant that the only way to stand a chance at succeeding in their role is through a hearts and minds campaign, and as such drill wells, rebuild homes and schools that have been damaged and destroyed in the fighting.
I like how 3/4 of your post is buzz words. Except most of the construction done is contracted by Private contractors who do it for more money, take more time and build shotty work. Ignoring the fact that for many years after the war, during and before the war the coalition was fucking useless and nothing but a negative entity. But what about the corrupt government? Even though combat troops left, the government is still corrupt, there are still problems there. Much less then before, but it took 8 years, eight fucking years for the coalition to get its shit together and still there's so much damage. Building a school doesn't negate the national effect the coalition has with over 22 million people. So don't tell me building schools makes the coalition somehow better and negates EVERYTHING else they've done.
So yeah dingbat, you're lying through your teeth or you're just ignorant and refuse to look at what the coalition is actually doing.
Rebuilding shit they destroyed in a country it attacked for no reason. Saying they're doing a good job rebuilding a country THEY destroyed with ignoring the little catches that it brings shows you like to plug your ears and ignore the issues that plague Iraq. Let me guess, the Iraq war was a WONDERFUL fucking idea.
It will alienate non-Christian soldiers among other things.
Hardly, that's such an obscure, baseless assumption to make. It alienates Non-Christian soldiers about as much as the Pledge of Allegiance alienates Atheists at school.
Hardly, that's such an obscure, baseless assumption to make. It alienates Non-Christian soldiers about as much as the Pledge of Allegiance alienates Atheists at school.
The difference is, you have to use the scopes with the biblical scriptures, you can't refuse it. Anyone can refuse the pledge.

Edit: Retarded mistake, missed out "people"
I notice most of these arguments that are for keeping the scopes is always presented under the assumption that these are completely optional and they just don't have non-Christian scopes. They're not. Please keep this in mind before you post, or try to foolishly compare this to the pledge of allegiance.
What the fuck? I didn't even know they put bible references on the sights in the first place I'm glad they are removing them, otherwise the US military might have even more reason to believe the delusion that they are fighting for "god".
Now make them the not the price of guns and we will talk Trijicon.

But seriously, who cares about quotes when you are using it to focus on your targets? And it helps you to kill those people.

And we went there for stupid reasons, frankly I'd be happy if we pulled out completely today, but the fact is we're there, and we need to make the best of a shitty situation.
No, I'll rate you dumb for being an ignorant fuckwit who believes a small group of speak equate to the whole.
aka, "your opinion is different so you are a fuckwit so i rated you dumb"
aka, "your opinion is different so you are a fuckwit so i rated you dumb"
Did you bother comprehending any of what he said?
