Doesn't really matter now, butthurt atheists ruined a neat thing.
Bible quotes on a device you hook up to a thing that kills people... how is that neat and can possibly be 'ruined'?
Awww... I liked the irony.
we take pride in doing the job ourselves and being good at it.
No one gets upset when soldiers or cops wear the Pork Eating Crusader patch.
(Granted these are Germans in this picture but it's an example:)

13 year olds shouldn't tell other people to grow balls
i'd love a gun that had "i am become death, destroyer of worlds" printed on the side
maybe not bible quotes
Putting bible verses on gun sights doesn't alienate atheist soldiers.
They are just numbers that have a meaning to christians. I wouldn't personally care a shit as an atheist.
Edit: Sure, it's not appropriate but why should anyone whine on the media?
TBH, I would read the bible as an Atheist for the experience of simply reading one. All the religion can go piss out the window.
it doesn't "alienate" atheists unless you're a gigantic moronic bigot.

Are you kidding me?
you know, people like you are surprisingly worse then military apologists. Military wannabe's who justify killing as being super awesome.
Yeah, actually try leaving your cosy home for once in a blue moon and realise that killing people isn't SUPER AWESOME HARDCORE. Please, go to the Palestinian town I went to and tell the people who have suffered from losing family that they should grow some balls and realise getting hit by suicide bombers or Artillery is just FUCKING SUPER HARDCORE BRO
[editline]7th April 2011[/editline]
basically, you disgust me.
Iraqi Insurgents aren't all radical muslims, what are you talking about?
[editline]7th April 2011[/editline]
They're fighting the coalition who is, y'know, absolutely fucking useless.
Yeah, because this is a great reason to risk your life.
Who really is gonna take the time to look up the passages in a combat zone anyways?

The old ones with the verses on them are going to be rare collectors items worth a shitload.
being disturbed by biblical references on gun sights that your tax payer money goes towards
You're telling me this isn't ridiculous?
We've got more important shit to worry about than 2COR4:6 on a gun sight, especially when it comes to our taxpayer money

yeah so
i've got more things to be worried about than my eating habits but that doesn't mean i should fatten up and eat till i turn into a balloon
you'd be surprised, even a vegetarian can still get very very fat
I don't really see how it's that big a deal at all, but if people want to whine about it for some reason, so be it.

unless you were a cannibal
Why the fuck were they putting bible references on gunsights anyway?
I'm sure God must love having references to his book being plastered on tools of death.
well maybe god shouldn't have made people want to kill other people and worship him at the same time
Oh no! Bible quotes in my ACOG! What will I EVER do?
Want to know what happens when I find a quote from the bible in my scope? I don't give two shits. Not even a big fucking deal. "Oh no its going to alienate me because I'm atheist!" Grow up. If I can care less, so can you. Can't handle it? D/with it pussy.

It's a relations and diplomacy issue. Calm your angry self down.
Well this is uncool

the point
your head
please remember to roll over on future issues that offend and alienate people so our country can stay exactly where it is instead of going forward
also
I can care less, so can you.

The difference is, you have to use the scopes with the biblical scriptures, you can't refuse it.
Anyone can refuse the pledge.
You don't have to use the ACOG. There are plenty of other optics available for use, including Aimpoints and EOTechs.
Aimpoints and EOtechs are primarily zero magnification combat sights for close quarters.
ACOG scopes are the military issued medium range optics.
So no. If you want to use a telescopic sight on your AR-15 platform rifle, you are probably going to have to use an ACOG. Both because that is what is available, and that is what you have been trained to shoot with.

If you don't care, then you won't mind if they are removed.
I think it would be really cool if soldiers could request a certain message to be displayed on their scopes if they pay maybe an extra bit of cash from themselves.
If I was religious I'd find much comfort and peace of mind from going into battle with my favorite scripture engraved or something.
Or if not, I could have something of meaning put on my gun that makes it personal to me. Though the DoD would have to screen all requests to not have any obviously bad things written on the guns like "fuk paki's", and I suppose when someone returns their gun after their service is up it'll still have your custom message on it.
There's already a lot of equipment customization that goes on. It kind of helps lighten the mood for soldiers.

Boy, he's gonna be pissed.

What the fuck are you talking about?
I think it was fitting to have Bible quotes on a tool made purely for killing.
It somehow fits the history of the Bible.
