DirectX 11*
same differenceeeeeee you get what i meant
Are we discussing the same topic? Or are you saying that "problems" such as ... are major issues for the IT department?
Great computer skills are unfortunately not a job requirement for anyone working in such conditions. Now wait a minute, I've never said that I don't think it's stupid, but it is the reason why people complain about it.

This just in: idiots expect everything about their computers to be perfect
This just in: idiots expect everything about their computers to be perfect
That sentence pretty much sums up the existence of the "Mac Community" because it "just works" even though it doesn't.
shutup you cheap prostitute liberal hybrid driving donkeyfucker
hey i do not drive a hybrid [editline]04:37PM[/editline]
That sentence pretty much sums up the existence of the "Mac Community" because it "just works" even though it doesn't.
if you don't have anything good to say, don't say it
if you don't agree with me, shut the fuck up
fix'd
I had NO problems with Vista, everyone complained. Some said it wasn't good for gaming. Hell I had like 40 games on my pc. Then unexpectadly a tainted torrent with critical viruses chewed up my pc and spit it out. I only had the upgrade vista CD which means you can't format while in startup. So I found myself having to by Windows 7 to format. Windows 7 is cool, haven't had a problem yet.
fix'd
that sums up everyone on fp you dumb canoli
Why the hell can't Microsoft get the upgrade process to work properly? I'm not at all saying that OS X is a better operating system, but at least it upgrades properly. The transition between versions of OS X is near flawless. [editline]5:32[/editline] KEEP THE BOXES COMING! CLEARLY I'M A MAC FAG BECAUSE I POINTED OUT A FLAW IN WINDOWS!
Apple doesn't need to put piracy measures in their upgrades because if you can afford the overly expensive mac you can probably pay for the upgrade too.
Shit, seems like the x64 version is much worser than the x86 one. To bad, i was thinking of buying more ram and switching. Guess i'm gonna have to wait for a while if i wanna use win 7.
I have Windows 7 x64 and have had 0 problems other than bluescreens caused by outdated BIOS which I had in Windows XP and fixed by updating my BIOS. Everything works perfectly.
The only problem I've had on Windows 7 (x64) is that occasionally my mouse pointer looks a little messed up when I move my mouse between windows.

I've been using 7 for over a year and I have had very few problems. Mostly BSODs related to bad overclocks and graphics drivers.
It seems likes programs freeze up a little more, microsoft could have done a better job of not letting that happen since they ran fine on XP, but my experience with Windows 7 has been generally positive.
I have problems with explorer simply freezing sometimes.
I'm not using 7 cause ati hates legacy and is lazy [editline]02:38AM[/editline] other than that, all the features and lack of bugs make me cream
other than that, all the features and lack of bugs make me cream
Honestly I was disappointed when I looked at the screensavers and saw they were still using old ones from Windows 98.
This reminds me of when Vista was released. Before Vista came out, people said it would be bad, it was released and issued started appearing, which were used as justification that Vista was a bad OS. Windows 7 is different in that people expected it to be amazing, and the issues are still popping up. Of course, this is to be expected, an OS is a complicated bit of software running on widely different hardware configurations with different drivers, and it's written by humans to boot. The same issues appear with every OS release, XP had these issues as well.
Recently got a second laptop for other people to use when they're over... It has windows 7 on it. I think it's an "okay" OS but I prefer vista. While there are new drivers for almost everything to make them compatible with 7, a lot of things aren't plug and play. I also don't care for the UI, it's bulky and ugly. I don't want to use "classic" windows either, vista has perfect GUI.

I am already having problems with this. My mic wont work anymore.

The 64-bit version runs fine, and there are no compatibility/stability/security issues whatsoever. [editline]01:46AM[/editline]
I am already having problems with this. My mic wont work anymore.
Open up the start menu and type manage audio devices. Go to the recording tab. Check out all the devices, see which ones work, and check their properties to make sure their volume is turned up enough. I've seen this happen in XP, Vista and 7.
I've had no problems at all with Windows 7 so far.
I had a ton of BSODs, apparently 4GB of ram and x64 windows 7 + external disks doesn't work very well. Had to truncate my ram to 3.25GB
What do you mean external disks? DVDs? Flash drives? External HDDs? And why would limiting available memory help anything at all? Are you sure you're running the 64-bit version?
I fail to see any kind of logic behind changing things that we've been familiar with for years.
Looking through this thread, 95% of the people giving Windows 7 hate are having issues that are most likely easily fixable. If you have a problem, do some research and fix it, don't just sit around and complain about how bad Windows 7 is because you can't work with a computer. All of which brings me back to the early days of Vista... [editline]01:56AM[/editline]
I fail to see any kind of logic behind changing things that we've been familiar with for years.
Because the new stuff is better, if people would stop complaining and take a week of casual use to get used to it. For example, the start menu search bar has saved me tons of time and hassle from digging through the all programs menu that we all enjoyed so much in XP.
I have never gotten one critical error with Windows 7, nor a BSOD. Been running it fine for the past 4 months.
This is why you never do upgrade installs.
Oh, nice, another news article that every Mac fanboy will post in his furious blog as if it meant anything.
